On the Masculine Side

I made this card for the Speedy Fox & Friends Challenge #116 to make a masculine birthday card. I picked up this cool wheat bundle stamp at an expo on Friday and couldn't wait to come home and play with it. I stamped it with Memento Rich Cocoa & Desert Sand inks, and added highlights with a brown marker and a Spica glitter pen. The woodgrain panel was done with a TH Sizzix ef, and I just smeared about 5 different ink pads over the embossed portion until it looked like real wood to me. The dsp is from the Paper Co Mirabelle pad. I loved the soft muted plaid colors which just looked masculine to me. The sentiment was done with an Inkadinkado stamper on a word window punch. Sponging was done with Antique Linen ink.

Here's the sketch for this weeks OWH Stars & Stamps sketch challenge #129.

And here is my card, made entirely from scraps. I embossed the teal panel with a CB hearts ef, embossed the black panel with a CB herringbone ef, and the kraft panel was done with a CB diamonds ef. Sentiment is by HA, and the little star was punched from kraft and has a cute brad added to it just for a touch of red color! I thought this card was more on the masculine side, so now I'll make more of this design with feminine papers too! In this heat wave, I've been staying indoors & making oodles of cards for challenges that will soon be heading to OWH for our troops. I hope I don't burn myself out before the weather breaks! LOL

Take care, and have a great day, and thanks so much for stopping by!

Carol

I LOVE the embossing on the OWH challenge card! I've used the stars before, but for some reason keep forgetting about the herringbone. Also, I really like your masculine card; thanks for letting me know about Speedy Fox and Friends. I had a card I've been planning to make, which worked for their challenge.

Carol, That masculine card is exceptional. I just love that stamp and you did a fabulous job achieving the wood look. Your dp is also very, very nice. Your OWH card is such a striking card with the colors you went with. I realized that I had not been on to comment on the two posts below. I love Rhubarb of course and your did such a cute job with him on your funky fold card. Your CASology cards are both beautiful. I love the embossing on the second card. Enjoy your week. I'll catch up with you.

Your OWH card is super...so much texture.

Our heat wave finally broke and we have had lots of rain. It sure made things greener.
