A close friend of mine called and asked me if I could make a card for her recently. She'd read in the newspaper about a soldier who returned home from Afghanistan with severe injuries and his family was requesting cards to comfort him. I knew "get well" just wasn't going to work, so I dug into my stash of stamps and found this Verve sentiment that I thought would be more effective to encourage his recovery. I used the Clockworks ef for the red background, and put some navy cardstock behind the EK bricked pattern punched border. I sponged the kraft sentiment panel with antique linen ink, and added some square gold brads for an accent. The inside simply says "Never Give Up!"
On this Memorial Day weekend, I want to remember not only our fallen military, but the injured ones as well who are recovering and need encouragement to keep going. We need to remember all of those who sacrifice so much for our freedom and show our appreciation!
Thanks much for stopping by, and I wish everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend!
ETA: if anyone would like to send this injured soldier a card to lift his spirits, I'm sure he'll appreciate some love and support after the terrible injuries he's suffered!!

Carol, It this card doesn't lift the soldier's spirits nothing will. You can feel the love and appreciation that you put into this card. That sentiment and the inside sentiment is just outstanding. Those gold brads are the ideal detail for this card. I wish you a great weekend. I'm trying to get as much outside work done as I can before we get rain. Coming in for a break and seeing your card gave me the pick up I need to keep going today.
Oh, wow. This is already an emotional weekend for me, but you really went right to the heart with this story and card. It's not only gorgeous, but perfect and you'll probly never know the difference you may have made in that soldier's life, but I know you really helped him get through another day while he's reclaiming his life! xoxo
Carol, this is such a perfect sentiment for someone recovering from injuries. A beautiful card too.
