They're celebrating Practical Solutions week for Paper Crafters over at the MoxieFabWorldBlog this week, and they've given us 5 challenges to play along with. This card is for the first challenge - to create a paper-crafted project that incorporates a household item in an innovative way. Can you guess what I used on this card?! It's a mesh bag that garlic comes packaged in! I just stretched it to the back of a piece of black card stock and adhered it with double-stick tape, then added a few gold brads in keeping with the gold embossed image and mat. The image is from a retired SU! set called a Measure of Life and I colored it with fluorescent Copic markers. The dsp background is from K&Co and has some beautiful flocking embedded on the surface. I thought the mesh reminded me of a butterfly net, so that's the connection for using it with this image. You can always click the photo to see an enlarged version.
This card was made for the 3rd challenge in the Moxie Fab Practical Solutions week celebration called the DIY Embellishments challenge. The challenge is to incorporate a hand-made embellishment that serves as the focal point.
I crocheted this flower using embroidery floss and put a big brad in the center, adding 2 velvet embossed leaves. The dsp is from Echo Park and I used a MS doily punch for the border. The sentiment is by SU! from the Sincere Salutations set and was stamped with Always Artichoke ink.
OK, that's 3 down - 2 to go! Challenge 2 to use paper scraps in an innovative way was already posted here. Be sure to check out the Moxie Fab blog for all the details!
Thanks for stopping by and happy stamping!
