I made a card today for the Stars & Stamps MWT challenge to create a summer fun-themed card. I had a hard time making a card today, especially with a summer theme! It's been raining here in PA for a few days and it's just plain gloomy. I don't feel very creative with all this dreary weather, but I pulled out some summer stamps and made this card. I apologize for the photo - it was so hard to get the colors right without some bright daylight, but I did the best I could.
The image was a $1 stamp I got at Jo-Anne's a few years ago, but I've always loved it. I colored the umbrella with glaze pens and sponged the ground in with Memento Desert Sand ink, adding some detail work with Copics. The sky was created using a sponge with Memento Summer Sky ink and a cloud template made from 3 pieces of scalloped circle cardstock that were punched and glued together. The sentiment is from Marks Finest Papers & was stamped with Ranger walnut stain ink, and the tiny birds are by Sweet 'n Sassy stamps and they were stamped with versafine onyx black ink.
I hoped that making a summer fun card would ease me out of the blahs, but so far it isn't working :) I need some sunshine! I hope you have some sunshine wherever you are today, and thanks for stopping by!

I really needed to see this beach scene card today, Carol. It has been so rainy and cold here. I think it was going to be 70 today. What??? It is middle May. It is supposed to warm up and be 85 by Saturday. Yippee! I have a wedding to attend in Nashville, TN so I'm hoping for sun and warmth.
Your card is just great and I too love that $1 image. Great job with the clouds. I love Memento Summer Sky and mine has just about run dry. I went to buy more at Hobby Lobby and Jo Ann's and neither one had it. Oh, I hope they have not discontinued it.
Love your sunny, beach day card!!!
LOVE your card! that umbrella is awesome and you did a fab job on the sand!!
Wow Carol, I love your card! The sky is beautiful, I need to keep practicing! Thanks for playing in our challenge at Operation Write Home!
Sitting here in my coat wondering if summer is going to come this year!! LOL such a relaxing card!
Well hun, at least you posted! It is so dark in my room, I opted for TV after work today! I even had new EF's I won on ebay and that was not enough to get me creating!Just glad the tornado only hit Philly. Yikes, I hate when they start screaming on the TV to take cover. Anyhow,I like the thoughts of the beach and the foam rolling in on the waves. Love that blue sky, too!
Wonderful card Carol, I love the umbrella.

Hi Carol, Your card is very pretty, but it seems like a far away dream. I feel the same as you, no MoJo in this weather especially for a summer card. Anyway I will dream of a nice summer day while looking at your card. You made it all look so real. That's one of the most realistic skies I've seen done. You gave the water the perfect amount of waves. That stamp was a great find. I wish I had seen one like that.
Anyway, I won't be able to create again today, too many other things on the schedule. Hopefully tomorrow. Talk to you soon.
I feel your pain! It's been raining in my area since Saturday night, but we're supposes to see a spot of sun late this afternoon. Your card is lovely and I like the sponging that you did for the background.
I want to be sitting here right now with warm sun on my face, a breeze through my hair and a tall drink in my hand.....just listening to the ocean/lake
Carol, I love this card! The design is so original and the colors great. It certainly brings a glimpse of summer into one's sight. I say that only because we had snow yesterday! C'mon Mother Nature!! Blessings.
Hi Carol, after the past week of rain and storms, your card is a breath of summer! I love the surf and wish I were sitting in a beach chair now!
I can almost smell the water and feel the surf in this card. Lovely!
