I haven't used my big Sizzix butterfly die in ages, so I decided I'd get it out and make something with it. I also pulled out my Tim Holtz burlap stencil and embossed all the butterfly panels with it, giving texture to the layers on the butterfly. The smallest one was done with a punch-a-bunch on kraft and sponged with Antique Linen ink to mirror the circle panel of burlap woven with gold fiber. My sweet friend Mary Anne gave me a generous piece of it and I finally die cut a circle with it, fringing the edges a wee bit to expose the gold fibers. It's been a sun-less week here in PA, so I apologize for the dull photo, but if you enlarge it you may be able to see the gold fibers around the top edges. It's really pretty IRL! I used a bazzill textured card base, with orange, espresso, and kraft; adding a big frosted orange gemstone from Pizzazz Aplenty that I won not too long ago. I added a few more smaller gemstones randomly along with a SNSS sentiment.
I'm entering this into the following challenges:
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday - use stencils
Shopping our Stash #155 - use something soft (burlap panel)
Darnell's NBUS #1 challenge - anything goes w/friendship theme, use some never before used schtuff - (burlap panel, large frosted gemstone)
Wishing you all a sunny day wherever you are, and hopefully we'll see a little of that glorious sunshine tomorrow, as it's been cloudy and raining all week long! Thanks for stopping by!

Gorgeous! Love the CAS style!
Lovely card Carol. That burlap is very nice and yes I can see the gold. Love your little gems scattered around. Such little things add so very much to your card. Hope you get some sun soon. We are suppose to see some tomorrow afternoon, but it is raining her now and will be all day, so they say.
Absolutely delightful with gorgeous texture in the background.

Oh this is a beautiful card Carol! I love that burlap with the bits of gold in it. Your butterflies look fabulous stacked up. It has been a rainy week hasn't it. It is good to see bits of sunshine today although those clouds are still there. Come tomorrow though it should be blue skies and bright sunshine...finally!! lol Hugs, Brenda
"Sun"? What is that? I forget, smile. you're so right it has been a bit dreary and rainy but I have to admit it does inspire me more to stay in and make cards...
Your butterfly is very pretty and I like the burlap in the background!
Wow, what a great color combo! You sure got brave making that burlap circle, too! What a cool idea to stencil that center butterfly. I was so excited... the sun peeped itself out for about 15 seconds!
Beautiful!!! Love the pop of orange against the burlap! I know it shines with gold fibers running through it too.

I agree...on the butterfly that is. Great card carol. Sun looks like it is trying to come out today. YAY.
LOVE the embossed and stenciled butterfly, and it looks awesome on the burlap!!
The sun hasn't come out because it couldn't compete with this card, Carol! I LOVE all the texture you've created here with the card base, burlap, stenciled butterfly panels, and those pretty little gems! That burlap with gold fibers is really uptown! I've never seen anything like it and I give you applause for not hoarding it!!
Thank you for linking again to my NBUS party!! You're the best!! Hope you have a sunny weekend! Hugs, Darnell

So pretty... rich in dimension, texture, and details. The burlap circle is perfect for popping those fabulous butterflies right off the page. :)

Beautiful butterfly! Love the texture you made here. Thank you so much for playing along with us in the Stencil It! Challenge over at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge Blog this week :)
Awesome. Lucky you to have such a generous friend, but I'm sure you share back too! Indeed enlarging showed the gold threads, especially at the frayed edges. Love the burlap & your stenciling on the butterfly. I have the same Sizzix die, (a NBUS) As are most of my Big dies like that. Great card - so much color & texture. TFS
I wouldn't have thought that burlap should be paired with fancy fold fibers, but it is really nice. Great card, lots of yummy texture.
Fantastic card Carol.
Congratulations on being one of Darnell's winners.
Hugs, Sarn xxx
