Birthday Card
I wanted to play along with the Tuesday Morning Sketch #385, so I pulled some papers from my overflowing bin of snippets and put this card together. I used a small piece of watercolor paper and sponged it with 3 different distress inks, then stamped a SNSS floral background with smoky slate ink (stamped off once) before adding the birthday sentiment in versafine onyx black ink. The embossed panel was done with a Damask ef, and I added some SU! enamel dots to finish this one. Everything matched nicely until I added the main focal panel, and realized that the yellow ink didn't match the pale coral panel very well. Oh well, it looked good in my head before I started it! LOL
Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by :)
Carol
I love this! Gorgeous mix of patterns and texture. The snippet bucket never lets us down. We may not remember what book or collection our pieces came from but boy can we knock em dead with the results!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great card made from snippets, I like the way you over stamped on the focal panel and the lovely sentiment stamp. Some super layers and textures too.

ReplyDeleteGreat use of your snippets, you always stunning me with your designs! Love the light stamp on the top panel, the stamping off once is a pretty technique to create backgrounds (and I always forgot to use it ...). Love the colours, too!
ReplyDeleteA pretty card Carol, I love the way you have created your sentiment.

I love the way you've combined the pattern papers and the design layout to make this very pretty card. That's some good sponging behind this fresh spring like imagery too. The enamel dots certainly stand out against the coral look of the fish tail banners. I like it! TFS & Hugs
ReplyDeleteOops, forgot to say, the yellows may not 'match' the coral, but I think it looks very sunny against all the colors, and the white embossing keeps it 'away' from direct contrast to the coral. I think all the colors look great combined here. They don't clash in my eyes, anyway!
ReplyDeleteYour right this is the perfect sketch for using up scraps! Love the way you used the flower silhouette under the sentiment. Oh an thanks for playing along with us at Tuesday Morning Sketches. Hope to see you again next week!
ReplyDeleteOh I love the background behind the words. This is a striking card! So lucky whoever gets this!!
