Sunglasses Required to View This Card :)

Whenever I have tiny bits of dsp left over, I punch them into 1" squares and keep them in a little box. Yesterday I pulled out that box and sorted through them to find some assorted polka dot bits, then glued them all on a piece of card, cutting it with a Lil Inker stitched rectangle die. I decided to pull out my retired SU!/Sizzix butterfly die and cut the 3 butterflies from snippets of brightly colored card stock. I embossed each one with a different dotted embossing folder to coordinate with the polka dot patchwork background. I shredded 2 pieces of black with my paper cutter for the antennae, adhering with glossy accents. The butterflies are popped up with foam tape and I added a big honkin' gemstone from Pizzazz Aplenty for the butterfly body. The sentiment is from MFP, and the card base is Melon Mambo from SU!

I'm sharing this insanely bright, colorful card over at the Snippets Playground #239 as well as Mrs. A's Butterfly challenge #58 - D is for Dimension and/or Denim.

Thanks for stopping by and have yourself a fabulous day!

Carol

  2. You know what Carol I absolutely afore this card. What a spiffing idea to ccut your snippets into ready made squares to use at a later date. I'm so glad also to know I'm not the only one who has more than 1(ahem) spotty dotty sized embossing folder. Thank you for fluttering by and making my day with this gorgeous card. Hugs Mrs A.

  8. Wow Carol, I am loving this polka dot theme you have going on with this card! The background is just awesome, I love the butterflies stacked on top of each other but I really love that you kept the theme of the polka dots by embossing the butterflies with polka dots. This is a clever card and I love it. And I didn't even need my sunglasses, but I love the colors! Hugs, Brenda

  10. You know I'm loving this butterfly and its quilt! Clever to have the snippets already punched into squares, and I love the colorfulness. Just like an old time quilt, before the colors fade from use. Love the different dots patterns on the layers of the pretty butterfly too. Good job and it's great for both the Playground and Mrs. A's challenge. Stay cool. BIg hugs & TFS

  14. Wow! It's bright! All those dots! This is so fun. It reminds me of the quilts my grandmother used to make using up all the scraps of fabric she had lying around.
