Happy Bird-day

Here's my take on this week's OWH Stars and Stamps sketch challenge #216. I used an image and sentiment from Lindy's Stamp gang that was the perfect size for what I wanted to create. All of the papers and card stock were from my bin of leftovers and I used a Sizzix woodgrain ef to emboss the upper panel. I cut the image with SB petite ovals and hand-cut the sentiment panel, using a hexagon punch for the ends. I've hung onto these well-loved and hoarded Cosmo Cricket paper snippets long enough and decided to finally use them. They're left over from my scrapping days - something I've not done for probably ten years or more!

With using all of these snippets, I'm entering this card over at the Snippets Playground #116 too.

Thanks for stopping by and make it a great day! Spring is in the air (even if they are predicting snow for us again tomorrow)  :)

  2. What a fab birthday card, Carol. That is the coolest bg. Yes, we sometimes have to let our hoarded things go. I haven't scrapped in years, either. Too bad because I really enjoyed it.

What???????? More SNOW!!! I think it will snow all summer, too. LOL
    Hang on, my friend.

  3. We are sitting right next to each other this week. Yay. That bird just makes me smile. You did a fantastic job with the colors on your woodgrain panel. Your blue scallops are just the perfect size to peek out from behind your oval. This is a real fun birthday card. Hope you enjoy the day and the race.

  5. You go girl - that EF on the paper makes it look like it is paint. When I first looked at the card I thought what time did she get up this morning to use embossing paste and have it dried already? I love the blue. Great job. I'm with you on the scrapbooking days - love card making so much. Enjoy your day. TFS

  23. Great card...I thought you had painted or inked the background pice that is embossed with the woodgrain.!
Then i read the post and realiwzed not...
Love the look of your snippets card and good for you to use up some old scrapbook papers.
I have been doing the same lately. I always worry they will get damaged or bent or dimpled being stored so I went through all my scraps lately and combined the scrapbook snippets with the card snippets.
It is amazing how many of the patterns are small enough to look good on cards. I moved a bunch of whole sheets of 12x12 over to my card area...boy they stretch a long way!
