Starting with my Christmas cards early!

Here is my entry for the Rudolph Day Christmas card challenge for January with a twist. The twist is to make two cards in one blog post. Check & check!
I've always loved this great (retired) Rubber Stampede Santa image, and I stamped it with brown ink on kraft cardstock, coloring only the blue eyes. I finished up a Christmas paper pad I've had for a while, so these cards used lots of snippets. I embossed the SU! sentiment with gold, and added 3 gold candi dots to match. Those reflective candi dots are like little mirrors! I can see myself in the center dot intently staring at the card as I snapped the photo! LOL

Here's the 2nd card, slightly different but the same basic design as the first. I used a different sentiment and more snippets from the same paper pack. I almost wish I'd bought two of those paper pads as I love the colors & designs on each and every paper!

After using all of the snippets, I'm also sharing these over at the Snippets Playground #108.

ETA: well I WAS going to enter them into the Snippets Playground, but as usual, the gates and challenge have been closed......sigh. Another dollar short and another day late. It's the story of my life :)

Thanks for stopping by and do make it a great weekend!

Carol

  6. I have always thought that this was the best Santa stamp around and I really like your idea of only colouring the eyes blue.
    Two great cards.

  9. Both cards are great...I'm still making Christmas cards too. I used to wait till closer to Christmas and then always go into a panic trying to get them done. Now I do them all year long.

  10. Hey Carol, I did the same thing, zipped over to the Playground and the gates were closed! Boo-hoo! Love the sepia Santa. That is a really good look on this particular image, and I loved the way you used your DP snippets to give each of the cards such a different look. Don't have any of the candi-s yet, but they sure do add a lot of glitz. That stripe is really eye-catching. TFS & Hugs
Glad if you liked the card!

  13. Super cards, Carol. I can see you or someone in those candi dots, too, on your first card.

Sorry you didn't make the challenge...so aggravating.

  14. Carol, love both cards and yes they are the same but very different. Good job. I was looking at the gold candy dots, love the images reflected! Too bad that stamp was retired, it is one of my favorites too. Happy Rudolph Day, I think you are well on your way to being ready for Christmas 2014

  15. Great cards! And sorry about the playground. It has to close from time to time to scrape the bubblegum off the bottom of the teeter totter seats... I have no idea how that stuff gets there. Your two cards have the same design but they sure do look so different with the different color combos. I like it when people do that. It just goes to show you that little changes can make big differences.
