Challenges, Challenges..........

I found a new-to-me sketch challenge yesterday over at Freshly Made Sketches so I decided to play along since sketch challenges are my favorite way to create.

Here's my take on the sketch. I used cream & chocolate card stock, along with a piece of SU! (r) Parisian Breeze dsp. The embossed panel was done with a Sizzix ef, and the butterfly was cut with a Memory Box Vivienne butterfly die that I chose as part of a very generous prize I recently won from the SimonSaysStamp store. I added some tiny flatback pearls, also part of another generous prize package I won from Pizzazz Aplenty. My luck has been incredible lately, and I'm extremely grateful too! The sentiment was done with an Inkadinkado stamper on a piece of matching card stock, and the brown layer was popped up with foam tape.

This card was made for two challenges. I played along with the Tuesday Throwdown #94 to recycle something and use it on your card. The embossed panel was a scrap I'd cut down from a previous project and saved, so today was the day to use it. This is also for the OWH Stars and Stamps mid-week color challenge to use brown and turquoise. I used a MS hydrangea punch for the flowers, dotting them with some Viva Pearl pen accents. The branch is a Memory Box die called Woodland branch and was done with chocolate chip card stock. The kraft panel was punched with an EK dotted scallop punch, and the sentiment was done with a G Studio stamp. There's a "." underneath the tail on the word "happy" that just didn't look right to me, so I covered it with a matching turquoise flower. I think doing that added the perfect balance, so as Martha always says........."that's a good thing :)"

Now that I've made a few cards for challenges this week, I need to get back to working on the scrapbook I'm making for someone! If only the days had more hours to craft :)

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Thursday!

Carol

  17. They are both stunning! The first is so elegant and the second, as Cindy said, has a bit of an Asian look in its simplicity. I LOVE that sentiment and how clever of you to cover the period (why did they do that?) with a flower.
