Oops! I Did it Again!

I thought I was done with the April Fool's day card goofs, but I did it again just 2 days ago (sigh).

I recently bought this Darice "grass" embossing folder because I thought it would make some serene sympathy cards. I pulled out a piece of watercolor paper and sponged it with Fired Brick, Marigold, Mustard, and Squeezed Lemon distress inks. Next I wanted to emboss this pretty image onto the sponged paper. I'm guessing you can already see what I've done :) Yep, I embossed the WRONG side, giving me a de-bossed image on the front! Oy Vey!! Not to be outdone by another mistake, I pulled out an Antique Linen Distress marker and inked in all those de-bossed lines giving them some subtle color. I stamped a couple of SNSS flying birds and white-embossed the SU sentiment on black. Hopefully the recipient will never notice the errors of my stamping?

I'm sharing this over at Darnell's NBUS #11 and 2nd April Fool's challenge - to enter either NBUS, a boo-boo, or both. In this case, it's both.

At the rate I'm going Darnell may need to run this challenge on a monthly basis just for me, huh? LOL

Thanks for stopping by and make it a great day, in spite of the boo-boos! Hah!

Carol

It's gorgeous and using the marker in the debossed lines is a great rescue job!

Your card is so pretty, Carol. I would have never known there was a boo boo! Love the scene you created with the grass and beautiful sunset. This is just a lovely sympathy card no matter if the embossed or debossed side is showing! I personally love it! :)

This boo-boo looks like a happy accident to me, Carol! It's a gorgeous card! The camera always plays tricks with the eye anyway and I can never tell if the lines of an embossing folder are mountains or valleys! I hope that's not just me, lol! Thank you for playing again in NBUS Challenge #11 and sharing your turned-out-really-good-boo-boo! Hugs, Darnell

From the photo (or maybe it is my eyes) it doesn't look debossed, but I'm sure you aren't making this story up. I think it is a very nice serene card.

Well I'm not seeing a mistake! It looks like it is embossed right to me. lol Plus I don't think it matters what side you use does it? Depends on which look you like the most! I love this card and I am loving that embossing folder too. I agree this will make a beautiful sympathy card for sure. I doubt anyone will know that you debossed instead of embossing and if they do, they probably will think you meant it to be that way! lol Only a happy accident to me! Hugs, Brenda

You have covered so well the debossed details that it seems perfectly an ambossing! I don't see any boo boo here! :D Well done! The colours are just gorgous and love the black banner!

HiCarol.

You say you did work an oopsie. I am newish to card making and I can't work out your mistake with the embossing of the grass. It looks like all of the ones I have embossed!!!!!!

Can you enlighten me, please.

Like some of the others have said in a comment before mine...I don't see a mistake... The photo looks like you embossed. All I do know is that it looks beautifully done.

I love how you "saved" it but I don't think it needed saving. It is just beautiful and the sponging is wonderful with the colors you used.

That is a beautiful card. And if you hadn't confessed, no one would ever have known you didn't intend to have the wrong side out. Good way to save that. It really is a great look.

I have this folder and LOVE it! I agree it makes nice sympathy cards, it also makes great Fall cards too. I wouldn't have known it was a "mistake" if you hadn't said so! It's beautiful and this is one way that I have yet to try with this folder. Thanks for the inspiration!

I've done that myself before...but the nice thing about embossing folders that we can still create a great look with both sides that we use. And, you are right! This is a wonderful design for a sympathy card. I love it. You did a great save.
