Since it's been so cold here in PA this winter, I might as well just go with the flow and make Christmas cards until spring arrives :) I received this beautiful Darice snowflake swirl embossing folder in a blog candy prize package from MaryH, and it makes the most beautiful Christmas cards effortlessly! I used the colors of pool party and island indigo, adding a felt snowflake, a punched snowflake and a matching brad. The border was done with a MS Skylands Snowflake border punch, and the ribbon is from PTI. The sentiment was done with an unmarked wooden stamp set.
And here it is done in red, white, and silver colors. Those felt snowflakes have been in my stash forever, and I'm happy to be using them.
I'm entering these cards into the Rudolph Day February 2014 challenge, which is to make two Christmas cards. I'm also entering them into the Shopping our Stash #140 challenge which is to use heavy metal. {snowflake brads}
Light snow is headed our way (again) today, and I'm tired of fighting it - so I've decided to join it! With these snowflake Christmas cards, I welcome the snow with open arms :) {cough!}
Make it a great day and thanks for stopping by!
Carol
Oh wow the embossing is amazing and gives gorgeous texture to the designs. Love the blue and red versions.

LOL, it is snowing NOW as I type this---these cards are beautiful and now I am on a search for that gorgeous Darice folder!! You are an enabler for sure!
ReplyDeleteDespite the snow these cards are both really nice.The embossed background is beautiful and that snow flake is perfectly placed. makes it look like wind. Like the first one best because the color makes you almost feel the cold.
ReplyDeleteHi Carol
ReplyDeleteSnap! We've both used an embossing folder for impact on our Christmas cards for Rudolph Day. LOVE your e/f - very pretty indeed and it's made some gorgeous cards.
Thank you for joining in with Rudolph Day.
Hugs, Sarn xxx
These are both so pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love how you have your snowflake and ribbon matching in the second card...Was that luck or do you colour the snowflakes?
It is sure a beautiful effect!
Wow, that is a beautiful embossing folder. You've made awesome cards with it and added your wonderful embellies. Gorgeous cards.
ReplyDeleteSure, I know you're embracing the snow. I feel for you. Maybe it won't be so much.
Carol, that may not be a good idea to keep making Christmas cards until it warms up - you may still be making them this coming Christmas after all the cold/snow y'all have had!!!
ReplyDeleteI DO love these though! That's embossing folder is to die for!! Gorgeous folder and gorgeous cards.

Don't worry the men with the big butterfly nets and comfy jacket with the arms that tie in the back will be coming to get your shortly. hee hee... welcoming snow with open arms indeed!
ReplyDeleteLovely cards, both of them. Isn't it something how two different color combos can change the look of your card so much.
Cough, indeed! But, no kidding, that EF from Mary is FANTASTIC, Carol, and I m putting it in my Wish Book! Your touches just pop in both brilliant colors and let the embossing shine!! Hugs, Darnell

ReplyDeleteWow that is a beautiful embossing folder and you put it to great use. I'm really starting to love those felt snowflakes also. Two lovely cards. As for the snow, that is all we can do it welcome because it's coming whether we wont it or not.
ReplyDeleteHave a good night.
OMGosh Carol, I love these cards!! That embossing folder is just beautiful, will have to look for that one. I am beginning to wonder if spring will ever come here in PA. Pretty cold week this week, I want last week back. lol Stay warm!! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE both your cards!! I need to be on the look out for some felt snowflakes:)
ReplyDeletePretty cards, Carol. I really like your post even if you use that awful word (SNOW!)
ReplyDeleteWow, don't think I've seen that EF used so stunningly. Love the different colors you chose for each card, and how it changed the 'feel' of each one. #1 was such an 'icy blast' yet the red was much warmer. Am loving your felt snowflakes too. That's something I've yet to try to die cut. Great cards and I'm really enjoying all the beautiful Rudolph inspiration tonight. Hope you're staying warm, and you can always fly south and we can set a spell on the porch while our brief warmth lasts. Even make us a cup of tea! TFS & Hugs
ReplyDeleteLove your gorgeous Christmas cards.
