Using Some Retired DP

My first card is for the SSS87 sketch challenge over at the Sweet Stop. I dug through my stash of DP and found this gorgeous retired SU! paper and decided to use it for the challenge. There's a twist to the challenge and that's to use stitching, either real or faux. I drug out the ole beast and actually sewed on my card today. I used the SweetnSassy Christmas Candle image and sentiment, coloring with Copics and adding stickles for some sparkle. The ribbon is by SU! and also retired. The sentiment was embossed with brown ep and a few golden nail heads were added. Note to self: buy new sewing machine needles so your stitches don't skip!
Here's another card I made using the same retired DP, along with old olive, chocolate chip and ruby red. This card was made for the QFTD40 over on SCS and this week's queen is Reddyisco/aka Jo. I chose this card of hers to case, since I've always loved this Rubber Stampede image! I swapped the flower for a snowflake and changed the sentiment panel a little, adding some gold deco pen accents to the sentiment and Santa's glasses.
It's been a busy day here at my house with company all afternoon, but I love it when friends stop by! It's that time of the year :D
Have a super weekend and thanks for stopping by here too!

Carol, these are absolutely awesome. I love that candle image and the paper is super. I adore houndstooth paper. And, I know exactly which card you cased of Jo's on SCS. I told her his eyes looked like they were looking at me trying to figure out if I had been naughty or nice. Scary!! LOL
Your stitching is super. My sis gave me a Janome for Christmas last year. I tried using it once but I couldn't make a straight stitch and I never have time to practice because I'm always doing challenges. Is that crazy or what? Have a good rest of the weekend.

Both of these are so gorgeous! I love the candle and poinsettia image on the first one, and the stitching and ribbon make a beautiful frame! And the Santa image, along with the embossing on the bottom card looks TERRIFIC! You are SO talented :)
