A Happy Birthday Quilt Card

I made this birthday card using up the very last few scraps of the SU! retired Sweet Always dsp. I cut little squares, adhered them to a piece of cardstock, and then used the top note die to cut the "quilt". The sentiment is by Just-Rite stamped in Chocolate Chip ink and it's layered with Chocolate Chip and Tangerine Tango cardstocks. The orange satin ribbon was from my stash. The orange gemstones didn't pick up much shine in the photo, but IRL they look sparkly.
I recently read that SU! is retiring many current colors of card stocks and inks, while bringing back some retired colors and adding a few new ones. While I'm thrilled that some old favorites are returning, I'm just sick over all the retiring colors that I have inkpads and reinkers for and will no longer be able to buy matching card stock after July 1st! Maybe it's just me, but it's getting quite expensive to keep up with all the trends and I may have to seriously re-evaluate this "hobby" of mine!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Carol

Beautiful card! Love your choice of colors & papers! I love these quilt cards!
I found out yesterday about the changes that SU has coming. While i'm happy about some of the old In Colors returning, i'm NOT happy about the regular colors leaving us either! What are they thinking?? I'm really surprized that they are making this huge change in the middle of our economy being in the shape it is. They may just be shooting themselves in the foot and losing more customers because people just can't afford this big of a change...me included! Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. Now I know i'm not alone.
Enjoy this beautiful weather, Carol!
Hugs~

A lovely card....such pretty colors, I always liked this DP!
I am sad about losing some of the SU colors....but I know they have done lots of research and SU is in it to make $$$$$, so that's the bottom line! Get it while you can!

Carol your quilted card is too cute!!! I should use some of my scraps too.

About the SU changes..I'm looking forward to some new colors...of course I can't afford buying them all at once either, but I usually only pick the once I really, really like and then go from there. Now that Betty is doing the CC on SCS I'm sure whe'll cook up some super fun color combo's for us to try and you will see the new colors will work perfect with the older colors!!!

If you ever want to share a package or mor let me know..we could split and it's cheaper that way too :)!!! Hugs ~S~

first...your card is fabulous...I just love all your quilt choices

and to the SU....I just wish they had taken a bit longer to do it so we could have had more time to stock up on the colors we will want supplies of......over more time, I think the many changes would have been easier to swallow
