Today I have a birthday card that took a total of 6 hours to create. Oy! I carefully cut several strips of designer paper snippets to create a herringbone background, then die-cut it with a Lil Inker stitched rectangle before embossing it with a CB Clockworks embossing folder. I also die-cut the card base with a larger Lil Inker stitched rectangle die. The Impression Obsession clock was die-cut from several colors, meticulously adding all the negatives into their corresponding slots to create the multi-colored clock. I mounted the clock onto a die-cut black circle, then attached it to the card. I added 2 die-cut mini butterflies and placed them on either side of the clock and added a Studio Calico stamped sentiment. The only problem is, I stepped back to take a photo of it and realized I'd glued the clock image onto the card upside down! DERRR😖 My hubby looked at it and said "just send it, nobody will notice." The only problem with that is that I noticed and couldn't let it be. So I put it down for a day and gave it some thought. I decided to die-cut another clock and glue it right over top of the original one so that the time spent on this wouldn't be a total loss! That also explains why this card took so long to put together! I added some mini red gemstones to the butterflies and sentiment to give this a little sparkle. I put the birthday sentiment inside. At my age, time truly does fly - especially when you're spending so much time making ONE card! LOL

Wow, this is beautiful and what patience you have. That was a brilliant save too, by gluing a new clock over the old. Great card.
ReplyDeleteIt is quite likely that the upside down error wouldn't have been noticed but I'm with you on this - I couldn't have left it either but well done for finding a reasonably quick solution rather than having to make the entire card again. So easily done though, just a small lapse in concentration and it all goes wrong 😉. The finished result is brilliant, love it.

ReplyDeleteSuch a fabulous card even with your oppsie, Carol! I think I agree with Butch that no one would have realized it but I love that you just diecut the clock to redo it and not started over! I love the background and the embossing that you did over top! It's definitely a "Carol Card" with that background! Well done, my friend! Hope your having a relaxing weekend! Our weather certainly is not the best but it sure is muggy! I think we are going from a very short lived spring season to summer this week!

Six hours but the result is just awesome, Carol! Not only a very beautiful embossed herringbone background, so classy, but also two clocks for the price of one and a predictive sentiment! :D LOL
ReplyDeleteI admire your perseverance, it would have been a shame to leave the clock upside down even if it meant spending a lot of time again putting all the pieces in their correct places!! You have had a lot of patience and deserve a gold star! A great masculine design, with fabulous colours and textures!! There is nothing to say, it's really the work of a pro!!!
And I think the next card it will be a very quick one! :)

Super card Carol, the result was worth all the extra time you had to spend on it. I love the clock, a good rescue to make sure the card was perfect. (I wouldn't have been able to send it either, knowing that the clock was upside down.)

Its sad that you had to make the clock again - but there, it happens and we just need to fix it! But the end result is just fabulous! I think all those hours were totally worth it. I have made many cards that have taken me hours...(sometimes, almost days to complete) and Yes, I have also completed a card when I realize I glued something upside down. When I've done that...I just say to myself...well, that surely makes the card a one of a kind! (then I want to sit and cry a little!) smile!
