Turtle Birthday Card

I saw this card on Heidi's blog and knew I had to CASE it immediately. I have a friend who is fascinated with turtles and her husband took her to FL on their anniversary so she could actually swim with them, so this will be going to her later this summer.
A friend shared the turtle die with me on a visit a few years ago, and I die-cut two of them and put them in my snippets box until the time came to use them. The shell was die-cut with a snippet of water colored paper and I inserted the negatives into another shell that was cut with black. I thought it gave a nice contrast to the green. The stencil I used is by Taylored Expressions and I used two different distress inks to created the illusion of water. The sentiment is by Sweet 'n Sassy.

I'm sharing this with the following challenges:

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend, and thanks for stopping by.

Carol

  5. Oh wow he's super cute... I love his shell and the little gem you used for his eye. A nice stencil to use for the water and it really works using two different colours to create movement. I think your friend will be very happy when this lands on the doormat or in the mail box ;) x
