Bright Butterfly Birthday Card

Recently I posted THIS CARD using the same butterfly die along with a piece of watercolor paper that was smeared with distress inks and spritzed with water. My card today makes use of the rest of that piece of water colored paper for the background. I sponged a few small white circles on top with white craft ink, and then die-cut a postage stamp frame with white, using large and small dies and using the piece in between. I placed this on a GinaK lavender cardbase and added a stitched black "frame" to the outside, by using Lil Inker stitched rectangle dies in 2 sizes, and using the portion cut between them. The butterfly was done with a snippet of Melon Mambo and backed with white, then matted with a snippet of matching blue. I used markers to color inside the lines of the butterfly spots and then covered the entire thing with Glossy Accents. I like how the accents seeped into the tiny holes, giving it a really different look! I finished this with a white heat-embossed sentiment from my snippets box along with Taylored Expressions enamel dots in 3 matching colors. This is destined for a  teenage girl - I think she'll enjoy the bright colors (hopefully).

  9. Great water coloured background, Carol!! Well done on using it for two cards! ;) On this one it really makes the postage frame pop, as well the bold butterfly!!!
I enlarged the picture to see better the glossy accents inside the holes of the butterfly and the gloss looks wonderful, the colourful holes seem gems! Well done also with the sentiment, all the design is so impressive!

  12. I did enjoy your other card, and this one is pretty too. I really like how you've colored inside those tiny spaces of the wings. The postage die shape adds such a different look, and I think any teenage girl is going to love the lavender! (they like purple stuff at this stage, if I recall!) Love how you've done the white bokeh spots on your pretty watercolor background too. TFS & Have a great Friday.
