Water Colored Birthday Wishes

I have a birthday card today that includes a water-colored background, along with a water-colored flower. For the background I scribbled wc crayons on wc paper and bled them together with an aqua brush; allowing it to dry before cutting it with a Lil Inker stitched rectangle. The SU! blended bloom flower was stamped and heat embossed with clear detail ep before water coloring with Derwent wc pencils and an aqua brush, then fussy cut and popped up on foam tape. I hand cut some leaves from snippets of green cardstock, folding them in half and running them through a paper crimper. I added some punched ferns done with a MS punch, and one tiny orange gemstone. The big black brad and sentiment are both from SU!

I'm sharing this over at the Snippets Playground #191 where the only requirement is to use snippets.

I'm also entering it into the Shopping our Stash #216 where the challenge is "splish splash" or in other words; to use a wet medium. I used water coloring.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Good luck to the little league baseball team from Lewistown, PA - they're going to play in the World Series Little League championship finals on Saturday afternoon! Woo hoo!!! We're rooting for you!!!

  1. Carol, what a wonderful idea to run those leaves through the paper crimper! Love the look of them. Then entire card is so beautiful. Love the scribbling with the watercolor crayons - makes a beautiful background for sure!
We've been watching all the LL games too. Sad to see Texas lose last night but was glad to see Redland win! I just hate watching any of those little guys lose as I know they're all playing their hearts out. Good luck to Redland on Saturday!

  10. Thanks for the reminder about the w/c crayons! Mine are buried deep in a drawer, and that's one of the first craft items I think I ever bought. After watching over someone's shoulder when we were on vacation up here in SC. I love the softness of that background and good tip to use the aqua brush. THe flower is gorgeous and love the leaves and tiny silvery twigs tucked in with the flower. The color of the branch twigs looks like a plant we have here, called Dusty Miller. (Don't know the latin name, but it's velvety soft, and beautiful silvery-green shades). Pretty card, Carol. TFS & Hugs
