Heidi, I'm overwhelmed with your kind words in the post directly below, but I need to set the record straight. The card you cased from me is one I directly cased from the fabulous gallery of jojot over on SCS. I'd just bought the same stamp set, and I admired her card so much that I copied it nearly to the letter (except for the piercing). I'm glad you liked it, but I must give credit where credit is due - that was jojot's creation, not mine. Obviously we both admire her work:) Thanks for the compliments and I hope I haven't disappointed you too much! {{hugs}}

Casing Carol - My new challenge!

When I received this stunning black/blue/white card from Carol, I was blown away by it's beauty, the layout and all the gorgeous details. So I've decided to CASE my Buddy's cards, at least once every week! Carol is a gifted and AWESOME creator, a true artist in my eyes.I needed to make some more Easter cards, and this beauty of Carol's was sitting on my desk. I pulled the little Bunny image, from Great Impressions and then like a bolt of lightening, I knew what to do with it. CASE Carol! I flipped it around but other than that, it's the exact same design.
Carol, you're such an inspiration to me, thanks for being in my life, thanks for bringing me such great joy. You're an amazing person and I love you!

Mojo Monday Sketch #80
Good Morning! I will have to admit, I have been without "mojo" for weeks now, but when I saw today's challenge, found here, I thought I'd give it a try. I LOVE this layout, it's awesome. It will go into my favorite layouts, and I plan on making more cards using it. Thanks so much, to the wonderful card artists over on Mojo Monday, for kicking my butt into gear!Stamped a Penny Black image, colored it wil Tombows on watercolor paper. The DP is from Making Memories Chloe's Closet 6X6 pad of paper. Used SU Blue Bayou and Barely Banana CS, as well as SU Blue Bayou ink to sponge the edges of the greeting and image. The sentiment is SU Best Yet set. Found buttons to match the colors and thin green polka dotted ribbon.
This was so much fun! Looking forward to the challenge next week!
Have a wonderful Monday!

Viva La Verve Challenge

I made this card for the Viva La Verve April challenge found here. I burned myself out with purple last week, so I turned to some different colors for a change. I used black, red, and white cardstocks, and some fabulous Kaiser Ebony & Ivory designer papers. The fleur de lis on the sentiment panel is the negative image from the EK fleur de lis border punch. A couple primas, Kaiser black pearls, brads, SU taffeta ribbon and this was done! Quick and easy!
Have a great Monday and thanks for stopping by ;)

Pocket Change
I saw the OCC challenge today and had to play along. The challenge this week was to use the colors of More Mustard, Not Quite Navy, and Bashful Blue. I needed to make a birthday card for my oldest granddaughter, and I really did some reaching to come up with this card! LOL I drug out a long neglected coluzzle template for pockets and decided to make a pocket card. Then I recalled the template I got from SCS last year for the bikini bottom and the idea hit me to create a pair of jean pockets! Ok, the time I spent to make this card is just insane, BUTttt........it's for my granddaughter so I can justify my time!! LOL She's at the age where she'd rather get money and choose her own gift anyway. For the belt I used a piece of not quite navy, embossed it with a CB folder, then smeared it with Versamark and embossed it with clear EP to get that leathery look. The rest involved doing some faux stitching and sponging the edges with not quite navy. I decided to put the sentiment inside the card because nothing looked right on the front. Thanks for dropping by and I always appreciate your thoughts!
Have a great weekend and thanks to OCC for the great challenge!

Stamp Something!
I LOVE this Parisian Breeze dsp and can't seem to get enough of it! Once I make a card with it, I often end up making a 2nd card, which is the case today. The Stamp Challenges blog posted a sketch challenge today and as soon as I saw it, I visualized the image with this fabulous dsp. Everything is matted with Chocolate Chip and the card base is Kraft. The corner was die cut with my Quikutz and the little dots were made by punching some Baja Breeze cardstock with a paper punch, and adding a drop of liquid glass from CTMH. The corner just needed something to balance things out. You can always click on the picture for close-up details. Thanks to the ladies over at the stampchallenge blog for this great challenge and thanks to everyone for stopping by. Have a wonderful Friday!

Sharon's notimetostamp challenge today was to forget the rules! Use polka dots and stripes together. I put this sketch together as a way to use up some small scraps of that gorgeous Parisian Breeze dsp that I just LOVE. Sharon always says to stamp simply, and this went together very quickly. Thanks for another fun challenge Sharon - I love doing these:)Carol

CTD35

Good Afternoon! I finally got around to doing a challenge, the color throw down to use SU colors purely pomegranate, kiwi kiss and tangerine tango. Well, my normal method of operation is to select an image, color it, then find the right designer paper to flow with the colors and image. This leads to one "goofy" stamper, because I can never get colors to match correctly. So, this time I used the SCS sketch challenge layout from yesterday, then found DP to match the card stock and finally picked out a couple of stamps to complete the card. I haven't used eyelets in ages, so I used them here, although the green is an exact match IRL, just not in the picture???
I'm not thrilled with this card, something is just off. But it does remind me of the Robins that have arrived and the Spring flowers to come within the next month or so. It's so good to be rid of winter!

Echoes of Purple

My favorite color is purple, can you tell?! I love the floral images on this Echoes of Kindness stamp set and I just had to drag out my prism papers and create a card. This time I used all 3 shades in the pack and added a small strip of dsp that has tiny lavender flowers. I won't be surprised if I wear out this great EK Fleur de lis punch before long. I can't seem to stop using it because it makes the most gorgeous punched borders! I water colored the image with Tombows after stamping and embossing it with clear EP. The sentiment is a rubon. The ribbon is my bargain of the year - I found it late last year at the Flower and Craft Warehouse for 10 cents a yard! 10 yards for a whole dollar! Don't you love it when you stumble on bargains like that?
I'm curious to know if any of you watch American Idol, and if so, who do you like? Adam Lambert reminds me of a young Elvis Presley with his great smile and eyes. The boy can sing well too!
I hope you're having a great day whatever you're doing. Happy stamping hugs!

Here's my take on today's color throwdown which is to use Tangerine Tango, Purely Pomegranate and Kiwi Kiss. I must admit that I haven't really fallen in love with the Kiwi yet, so I used Old Olive instead. I stamped the image from Echoes of Kindness on wc paper with Versafine Onyx Black and embossed it with clear ep. I colored it with Pomegranate reinker and a blender pen. The dsp and ribbon are both retired items from SU! I left this card plain so I can add a sentiment later. It's sunny here in PA for now, but the rains are coming tomorrow. I need to go outside and soak up a little sunshine while it's still out there to enjoy, so have a great afternoon everyone, and thanks for stopping by to visit:)

KS Crew Challenge

Good Monday Morning everyone! I was reading Tammy's blog and this week she's hosting the KS Crew Challenge which is to create an ATC and then incorporate that ATC into a card. Heidi gave me this gorgeous KSS Honey Bunny stamp set for Christmas {Huge hugs Heidi}, and it's one of my favorites, so I decided to give this challenge a try.
I've never tried making an ATC card before, but it's really not much different from making any focal panel, matting it, and then creating a card.
I stamped the smaller bunny from the set and then made a separate medallion from the mini bunny image. Isn't he a cutie? I stamped some billowy clouds that put me in a spring frame of mind, and then added some soft yellow ribbon.
Thanks for stopping by on this first Monday of spring. Have yourself a wonderful day:)

Poppies

I made this card for the LSC212 challenge on SCS yesterday, but when I began to upload it, I realized that {again} I hadn't correctly read the directions *sigh*. We were supposed to create a card with subtle colors, and have the main focus a spring flower or bulb - since it was the first day of spring. I suppose the poppy is a summertime flower, and as you can obviously see, I didn't use all colors from the subtle line either. I was happy with the way the card turned out, so I decided to post it here anyway. Any flower reminds me of spring, and all shades of green also remind me of spring as well. I used Tombow and SU! markers to color this image, and used my favorite new toy - the EK fleur de lis punch - for the border.
Wishing everyone a wonderful Saturday and a great spring weekend! It's always nice to have you drop by :)

It's Friday and that means it's time for another challenge from Sharon's notimetostamp.Today's challenge was to use ribbon tabs. I don't know why I don't use this technique more often - it's a great way to use up those little pieces of ribbon that aren't large enough to tie around a card. Thanks for another great challenge Sharon, and thanks to Michelle for the beautiful stamped image I used on this card!

Stampers Dream Challenge

I had a little time today to play Michelle's Stampers Dream Challenge, which is to case a card from one of her design team members. I spotted this card on Denise Marzec's blog recently and couldn't help but case it! This is my favorite dsp so I was drawn to it immediately. As luck would have it, I recently got an order to make a card for a friend, and this image was perfect for the occasion. I put the brads on the side of the sentiment panel, changed the focal panel to Cocoa instead of Kraft, and moved the buckle with the twill to the opposite side of the card. The sentiment was computer generated.
Thanks for another great challenge Michelle. With your fabulous design team, I may have to case another card or two before I'm done!

I made this card with a Northwoods stamped image my friend Michelle from Stampers Dream sent me recently. I don't make too many square cards, but this image just wouldn't work on an A2 card. After I colored the image with Tombow and SU! markers, I covered the whole image with Versamark and embossed it with clear EP. I layered it with black and magenta cardstocks and rounded off 2 corners. The Pacific Point borders were punched with a Fiskars border punch and then I added some 3mm pearls. The sentiment panel was done with a G Studio stamp and the word window punch.
Michelle just posted her latest challenge on her blog and she's offering some really great blog candy! This month's challenge is to case one of her design team members, and there's a LOT of inspiration from those talented ladies, so hop on over and give it a try - it's fun!

It's Wednesday and that means it's time for another Color Throwdown. This week Barbara chose the color combination of Not Quite Navy, Kiwi Kiss, and Blush Blossom. I had to ponder this one for a while, but I finally put it all together. I still feel like the ribbon needs a little adornment, but I couldn't figure out what to put on there without taking away from the flower. The flower was made by using the SU! 5 petal punch. I punched out 2 flowers and layered them after sponging them. Then I punched out a few more flowers, cut the petals apart and glued them behind the layers. After all that, I found 2 perfectly matching paper flowers that I stuck in the center with a removed gem from a brad. The leaves were made from cardstock and run through the crimper. Again I used my fleur de lis EK punch for the border (LOVE that thang) and added a sentiment from the So Many Sayings set. If you've never tried the CTD, be sure to check it out - those ladies always have some wonderful samples on their blog to inspire you. You can find the link above, or on the side bar of our blog.

Top O' the Mornin' To You

Happy St. Patricks Day! I had to make something appropriate for this Irish holiday, so I pulled out my favorite house mouse surrounded in shamrocks! You don't have to be Irish to enjoy this day, so wear something green and have fun! I'll leave you with the traditional Irish Blessing:
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
May the rains fall soft upon your fields,
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

Tango Quilt Card
I made another attempt to do a quilt card like my previous post, only this time I followed the directions! LOL I used the Haiku dsp and Tangerine Tango cardstock. The card looks balanced this time since I used the correct amount of squares. This is a great way to use up those tiny scraps of dsp you have lying around. It takes 12 squares of 1-1/4" size and the top note die from SU!. I added 2 sizes of flowers, a die cut starburst, and a large brad. I also used some matching ribbon by SU! The sentiment is from the Thoughts and Prayers set, and was stamped in Always Artichoke.I hope your Monday is going well. Spring arrives later this week and I'm so ready!

Sweet Always Quilt
Good Sunday Morning everyone. I recently discovered Lisa Freeman's blog post to make a quilt card with the top note die from SU! I couldn't wait to make one myself, so in my normal rush to get things done, I didn't follow her instructions precisely, and my quilt is a bit unbalanced as you can tell. You're supposed to use 12 squares and I used 16. {DUH!} I will definitely do this one again the correct way, because I love the look of it. I'm down to just a few scraps of this fantastic Sweet Always dsp from SU, and what better way to use it up than with a quilt card? The sentiment stamp is from the very last page of the current SU! catalog and I love this one! I'm really fond of these single stamps and might have to order another one soon. The card base is Pink Pirouette and the ribbon is Regal Rose. I stamped and matted the sentiment panel with Chocolate Chip.I suppose I'll be stamping the day away since NASCAR is off this week. Sunday afternoons just aren't the same without a good race to watch - but then there's Bristol next week. There's always excitement galore at Bristol!
Have a wonderful Sunday whatever you're doing, and thanks for stopping by :)

Stamp Something Challenge - Green- March 13, 2009
To see all the detail, please click on the picture. So hard for me to explain exactly what I've done.Howdy! This is for the Friday the 13th, Stamp Something Challenge, to create a card using green. I needed a Birthday card for a BIL, so green was a perfect choice. I used SU set Voila, and first stamped on the checkered designer paper, for the chef's coat and cut out, then stamped again on the green/black designer paper that made up the pants, cuffs, and scarf, and again cut out. I stamped another hat in white and cut out, popped it up. The platter was done by powder embossing the gold, on copper metallic paper, and popped up. Stamped the cake from a Penny Black stamp, the watercolored it, added stickles, cut it out and popped that up also. Then just assembled everything. The card stock is SU mustard, and old olive DP. Saying is a Stampabilities stamp and added a felt flower brad, in olive green. Voila, a Birthday card! This was such a fun challenge, thanks for letting me play! I have also posted it to my SCS gallery, hope this time it stays put! InMattiesMemory

Something Green
I made this card for the Stamp Something challenge, which was to make something green. I used some retired cardstock and dsp for this, Apple Cider and River Rock. Heidi sent me the stamped image and I just colored it. The birthday sentiment is from G Studio, and the circle "for you" is done with stickers. After I punched the circle I realized the dot formation reminded me of a baseball, so this card is perfect for a little boy! Geo Sparklers were used to accent the corners and dot the "i" in the word birthday. Thanks for stopping by :)Carol

For Michelle
I was lucky enough to recently win some blog candy from the Stampers Dream challenge, and along with those goodies, Michelle sent me a few stamped images. This image is the Northwoods Monarch Butterfly and it's fabulous!! I've made a 5x7 card, so you can see how large the image really is. I colored it with tombow and SU! markers, and added a blue shadow with watercolor pencils. After everything dried, I rubbed the Versamark pad all over the image and embossed it with some clear EP. Next I added a little bit of flower soft to the flower centers for interest. That fabulous ric-rac you see was part of the blog candy I won, and it perfectly matched the stamped image and dsp. The dsp is from a stunning K&C0 pad that Heidi sent me recently (thanks again Heidi) but unfortunately my photograph doesn't do it much justice. It's all glittered, embossed, and sparkly IRL. I wrapped some copper cording around the punched corners of the image and around the ric-rac and black grosgrain ribbon. If only I'd left enough room for a sentiment! LOLThanks for stopping by, it's always nice to see you :)

It's Wednesday and that means another Color Throwdown challenge. I also used today's SCS sketch challenge for a double whammy card. Today's challenge is to use Eggplant, Turquoise, and any color green. I chose Wasabi Green and added a touch of pale plum for the punched border. The cute little cupcake was made with a Martha Stewart punch that Heidi sent to me {hugs Heidi}. I drew stripes on the bottom half to represent the crimped paper liners. The frosting was created with liquid applique and I added a few tiny Geo Sparklers for candy sprinkles. The chipboard is a glittered piece I pulled from my stash. You should all give the CTD a try - it's so much fun! Thanks for dropping by :)Carol

Mojo77
I made this card for the Mojo77 sketch challenge found on the sidebar. I took my color inspiration from an ad in Sunday's paper for a bedding ensemble. I used my new EK punch to create the border. Can I tell you how great these punches are? You can store them compressed, which is a real bonus for me, since I collect more punches than anything else. I found mine at Michaels for 30% off. I stamped the blue panel with white craft ink and then blue Bayou. I stamped the chocolate chip with white ink, and then dotted the centers of all the flowers with a white sharpie pen. I also dotted the flower centers on the blue panel. I used a brown marker to dot the scallops in the sentiment panel and added some copper Kaiser pearls for accents. Thanks for stopping by and have a great Monday!

Easter for the Twins

Good Monday Morning everyone!I made these cards for a friend of mine who asked me to make Easter cards for her twin grandchildren (a boy and a girl). I made them the same color, but tried to make one on the masculine side by adding a ribbon slide and checked dsp; while the other was more feminine with floral dsp and pretty lavendar ribbon. I wanted them similar, but slightly different, so each child would feel their card was made just for them. I stamped tags with their names, and made tiny envies to hold them and adhered them to the inside of the cards. I hope they'll enjoy them :)

Baby Blue Onsie
Happy Saturday Everyone! Here's a card I made for a friend who will be attending a baby shower for a soon-to-be-born little boy. Sorry about the wonky photo - I just couldn't get it right for some reason. I love making these onsie cards! Everyone seems to enjoy them and they're so much fun to create.
I used some of my very favorite all-time {retired and hoarded} cardstock - Cool Caribbean. The little "snaps" were created by using a 1/4" punch on the cardstock, and then adding a dab of liquid glass and allowing it to dry. I've begun using this method so that the cards don't require extra postage, as they often do when using brads. The trim for the legs, armholes and collar was a sheet of printed copy paper someone gave to me. The print was pale blue, tiny, and delicate enough for this card. I used the scallop punch, the circle punches, and the Nestabilites to create the image panel and trims. The stamp is from So Many Scallops.
I hope you're having nice weather wherever you are. Today we're enjoying spring-like temperatures and tomorrow we may hit 70! I'm SO ready! A little reminder - don't forget to move your clocks forward one hour before bedtime tonight! Thanks for stopping by as always:)

No Time to Stamp Friday Challenge
I decided to do one of Carol's favorite Challenges, the Friday "no time to stamp". This was great, as I love to heat emboss and have been working with the SU set God's Beauty and wanted to make as many cards as possible, different variations, from this set. I used Old Olive and Baja Breeze card stocks for matting, other than that, it was all KC & Company paper. I added stickles onto the flowers and heat embossed the butterfly, then watercolored it in. Thanks for letting me play! Clicking on the card will give you more detail...hey Carol! I figured out how to make the card HUGE! :)Heidi

It's Friday and that means another great challenge from the No Time to Stamp? blog that you can find on the sidebar. Today's challenge is to heat things up by embossing something. I chose the CTMH stamp set called Treasure Life and went with the pink, gray, and white color combo. I tore the edges, popped up the embossed panel on foam squares, added ribbon, cording and a sentiment and the card was done. Thanks for another great challenge Sharon!Carol

Think Good Thoughts
Some times we all need to focus on having good thoughts. I made this card recently for my SIL before she faced some very serious surgery. That surgery is behind her now and she's well on her way to a full recovery {thank goodness}. These beautiful monochromatic papers were a gift from Michelle that came with an order from her fabulous store. I embossed the lightest shade with my Cuttlebug heart EF. I cut out the sentiment panel with my Nestabilities tag die and decided to use the negative portion since the sentiment fit better that way. The sentiment was embossed with Versamark and sprinkled with white EP. I used a tiny punch for the white hearts, and added a sequined larger heart with some darker cardstock underneath for contrast. A touch of white ribbon and this card was ready to go. My SIL loved it and intends to keep it which really makes me feel good.Do you save your handmade cards? I have a huge scrapbook that I recently started, just for the purpose of saving hand-made cards I receive. I love each and every one of them and often drag that big book out just to ooooh and aaaaaaaah over all the beautiful work within.
Enjoy your day :)

CTD32, SC218
I found time to do a card after getting my taxes done today. I guess it was a good day because I broke even. I don't get any refunds and I don't owe anything. There's a first time for everything!I made this card to meet 2 challenges. The SC218 sketch challenge, and the CTD32 challenge - to use Pretty in Pink, Barely Banana and Regal Rose. When I laid these 3 colors out together I immediately thought of Easter, so I let my thoughts lead me to this card.
The bunny tails were made by using liquid applique, letting it dry, and then hitting it with the heat gun. The rest is pretty much self explanatory.
Thanks for dropping by to see us today :)

Paris meets Prisma
I can't seem to stop making cards with this fabulous SU!Parisian Breeze designer paper lately. The colors just soothe me somehow and I don't want to put it away! This time I paired it up with Baja Breeze and some Prisma Birchtone light cardstock that matched it perfectly. I used Julee's Mojo75 sketch from last week. I sponged the sentiment panel with Baja Breeze and stamped it with a $1 stamp from Michaels. I topped it off with some SU! ribbon and a few Kaiser Bliss-colored pearls. I hope this makes someone's birthday a special one :)

God's Beauty Hostess Set

I LOVE this set, Stampin' Up God's Beauty! I've had no inspiration and somehow this set sparked me to start creating again. Over the weekend and today, I've made 6 sets of card, 6 cards each. This is the first in the series, and is probably my favorite. I used my tombow markers and added pearl ex to the brush as I blended the leaves and flowers. Gave them such a pretty sheen. Added diamond glaze to the flower centers to make the yellow pop. Card stock is SU Chocolate Chip, and the rest is designer paper from KC & Company, along with textured brown card stock to mat everything with. Added dew drops and the saying is from SU set, One of a Kind. It's late afternoon here and the lightening is weird. Really is pretty IRL. If you click on the photo, you'll see the pearl ex.
Hope you're enjoying your day! Heidi

Welcome Spring?
Look what we woke up to this morning in southeastern PA!! We're having blizzard-like conditions with bitter cold temperatures. We have several inches of the white stuff on the ground and it's still snowing steadily and very windy. It's pretty to look at, but I'm still thinking spring, flowers and warm, sunny days. I can dream can't I? *sigh*Did anyone in the Philly area watch the NASCAR race yesterday? Were you as annoyed as I was with the Fox network interruptions for weather updates every 15 minutes? It was so frustrating I turned the race off after an hour of that nonsense. Why do tv networks think the public needs these constant reports on impending snow storms? My gosh, it's like we've never seen or been able to deal with snow in our lives or something! Even this morning, all network shows were pre-empted so that local stations could report the snow from various locations. It's going to be a day without tv in my house today, for sure!
Stay warm wherever you are, and have a great Monday!

Parisian Birthday
I'm so hopelessly taken with this Parisian Breeze designer paper from SU! that I can't seem to put it away. I love the colors, texture and especially these stripes. It screams masculine to me, so I made a very simple and easy card with it. I punched the scallop border with my corner rounder and then punched holes with my silent setter tool. All I added were 3 bronze brads and a little hank of hemp and the card was done! If only they were all this quick and easy to make! Guys don't care about all the fussy stuff anyway, so this one is going to work perfectly! The sentiment is from the Sincere Salutations set from SU!Enjoy what's left of the weekend and stay warm. We're bracing for another possible snow storm here in PA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it slips right by us this time :)
