Twofer Card Challenge #12 - Birds

I made time today to play along with the Twofer Challenge #12 which is "birds."You are to use the same stamp, die, or punch to make 2 completely different cards. I made a Valentine card along with an encouragement card using one of the Tim Holtz Crazy birds.

First up I made a Valentine, using some new stitched tag dies I just got yesterday. I used SU! dsp and real red cardstock, stamping the bird and coloring with Copics, while adding a twine bow. The heart the owl is holding was die-cut with a SNSS die and embellished with 3 little heart stickers. The Tim Holtz sentiment was heat-embossed with white on red and also embellished with 2 little heart stickers. Just for good measure, I covered up the tiny hole on the white tag with yet another heart sticker.

For this card I went simple. I fussy cut the bird after coloring and covering with clear detail embossing powder and placed him hanging upside down on the die-cut MB branch that I embellished with a few snippets of die-cut leaves from my stash. The sky was sponged with tumbled glass distress ink, and the sentiment is by SU!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope your weekend is kicking off to a good start! We're anticipating the white stuff over the weekend along with some bitter cold temps, but I might actually get some stamping done while I'm hunkered down inside :)

Stay warm or cool - whatever the case may be where you live!

Carol

Two super cards, Carol. The owl looks lovely holding the heart and I love how you've turned him upside down on your second card. xx

Very, very clever use of that krazy TH bird upside down for a "hanging in there" card, Carol! I'm so going to steal this idea as I've only ever used a wee upside-down possum for that sediment and it's nice to have another choice! Very CASlicious, too! And I love your Valentine! He looks equally fabulous holding a romantic heart on his polka-dottie tag covering a striped panel! It is very striking and punctuated perfickly with those lime green eyeballs!! Thank you for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #12! Glad you don't have to go out in the wicked weather and can stay warm and crafty!! Hugs, Darnell

Oh Carol, these are so cute and clever. I love the papers you used for the Valentine and the bird is so fun holding his heart. The red and white twine goes along with the theme. That bird hanging upside down is wonderful. That is such a great way to say "hang in there".

Oh, now these are cute! So much to love about your two distinctly different designs -- all dressed up with fun papers on one and perfectly CAS on the other. I'm a nut for both styles! Really clever use of the bird. Thanks so much for playing along with us in our Twofer Birds challenge, Carol!

OMGosh Carol, you are a clever gal! I love both of these cards! The valentine one is just so pretty, loving those new dies too! But the second card is the one that has me saying wow! lol What a clever idea to use this crazy bird as a bat! I love the whole scene you created with this bird/bat. And of course love the sentiment! Hope you fared well with the storm and didn't get any ice! We got some snow, a little bit of sleet, but then all rain, lots of rain! Water laying everywhere as well as slush. Would have rather had the snow, no ice though! lol Now come the cold, so stay warm my friend! Hugs, Brenda

You've made this crazy bird look so different on each twofer, Carol ... they're fabulous! Lovely layering and detailing on the Saint Valentine card ... and that upside down batbird is a riot ... super colouring, a fun scene and a perfect sentiment! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Anita :)

Your two cards are so delightful! I suppose that is what those crazy birds are all about. I love how he's holding the heart, and all the red and white makes it the perfect Valentine! Upside-down that bird looks even crazier, and he's really making a statement about "hanging in there"! Thanks for joining in the fun with us at the Twofer Card Challenge!
