Father's Day

I think there are some dads out there who like trains so I decided to make a father's day card with a train image. I pulled out a SU! set of stamps called "Happiness is a Journey" (now retired) and heat-embossed the train image with white ep on a piece of turquoise cardstock. I die-cut it with a rectangular postage stamp stitched die, and matted it with a piece of black cardstock that was die-cut with a Lil Inker stitched rectangle die. The background panel was a piece of silver mirror cardstock that I embossed with my Big Shot and a Cuttlebug diamond plate ef and splattered with some black ink for a rustic look. I used a piece of retired SU! ribbon along with 3 honkin' big silver brads and added a computer generated sentiment to finish this card.

I'm entering this into the following challenges:

the Tuesday Throwdown #395 - "what a guy"

Cardz 4 Guyz challenge #196 - "father's day"

Shopping our Stash #357 - "my favorite things"
(my stitched rectangle dies are a favorite)

Thanks for stopping by and I hope your Wednesday is fabulous! Enjoy!

Carol

Brilliant train card and the metallic embossing looks just like the footplate you'd step onto on an old steam train - good thinking there.

Love the train embossed in white on the blue cardstock and the framing it with a postage stamp die gives it a real vintage feel. Classic card x

A really nice Father’s Day card. I do know lots of dads who like trains. I wouldn’t have thought of heat embossing that image, but it looks really good. Especially how it fits exactly into that cool die. Great embellishment too.

This is beyond cool, Carol. What great colors! The diamond plate embossing reminds me of the rugged steps as you hop onto the train. Great visual.

Oh my, I sure do love this masculine card Carol! The colors you chose look great together, although I would have never thought to use that blue. I sure do love it though! Love the diamond plate embossing folder too. Hugs, Brenda

Wonderful manly design and I love that you made it look in the form of a postage stamp with that die you used. Great card layout too.

Love these vintage train stamps, and this one shows off so nicely in the blue shades. You picked the right die shape and love the embossing folder you selected too. Definitely guy style. Adding that striped ribbon with the larger brads, another guy detail, and the whole just looks so well together. TFS & Hugs

What a great Fathers Day card this would be in my family. Al my uncles on my Dad's side were Engineers or Conductors for Canadian Pacific Railway. Cousins were Train dispatchers, Operators (myself included for a few years) and train machine clerks!

We travelled by rail on my Dad's Long term Service pass. Those were the days. Tea was served in the dining cars from Silver Tea Service sets and silver coffee urns. Meals were white tablecloth events.

Your card is wonderful Highlights that fabulous train image and has a great masculine feel.
