Kitchen is the Heart of the Home

I wanted to play along with the Double D challenge "Kitchen is the Heart of the Home" but it took me quite a while to come up with an idea because I don't have any appropriate kitchen/cooking stamps. Then I remembered that Alice (a sweet blogging friend from Italy) recently sent me this die-cut menu, and the card started there. I decided to go with a theme not only for the kitchen, but for the upcoming Superbowl next Sunday. I colored the embossed portions with a green tombow marker and a white gel pen, adding white Wink of Stella to the word MENU and outlining it with a silver marker. I computer generated the actual menu, and added mini brads in the colors of both teams playing. The vertical snippet was done with a Cuttlebug ef and sponged with Memento's potter's clay ink to resemble the football. I used a snippet of rust colored dimple-embossed cardstock along with a green punched border done with a retired SU! border punch. The images of pizza, hot wings and beer were free digital prints I found on the internet and printed and fussy cut. The brad in the top of the menu is from SU! and the Cocoa Mouse Football image is by Sweet n Sassy. I added a little crackle to the side with Brilliance Platinum Planet ink and a Kaisercraft crackle stencil. The little "party" clip at the top of the card was a purchase from QVC eons ago when they used to sell craft supplies.

Here is the inspiration board from Double D to inspire us to play along:

I guess food was my inspiration :)

If you're interested, I made a little recipe card with my recipe for hot n spicy taco pretzels which I often make for big sporting events like the Superbowl and World Series. If you enjoy hot, spicy foods, you will probably like these :)

I used a Cocoa Mouse image from Sweet n Sassy stamps for the image, and my name stamp was bought from an old online stamp store that is no longer in business. Click the photo to enlarge for easy reading.

Thanks for stopping by and I wish you a great weekend whatever you're doing!

Carol

Great idea for the challenge, I love the little mouse poking out from the ball and all the little embellishments you've incorporated. I really like watching the Super Bowl, if its broadcast here in the UK and if I can stay up til the small hours which I have done in the past, the atmosphere looks awesome x

I'm so glad that you have had the choice to use that diecut menu and thanks for the spotlight :) You have made a great use of it, so creative!! (and I suppose that your favorite team of Superbowln has green and white colors, it's right? ;) )
It's fabulous that you have created the true menu on pc and your Tacos Pretzels recipe inside seems yummy (and very hot)!! I will try it :D
There are a lot of beautiful details to see in your card, you have worked so hard! Love especially the cute mouse and the embossed/inked stripe to the left that adds a lot of texture!
Hugs and have a lovely weekend!
