Dwindling Follower's List

I don't fully understand what's being done that my follower's list has been taking such a big hit, but yesterday I lost 31 more followers after losing a few more the previous month. I understand everyone must have a Google account to be able to join the follower's list, but I find it difficult to understand why so many of my followers are being removed in the first place. Not long ago my list was nearing 450 followers, but today it's down to 408.

Now I've learned that followed blogs are being removed from our reading lists too, so if you've been a follower of mine and have been removed from my list, or my blog has been removed from your reading list, you can alternately subscribe to my blog via email or Bloglovin. Both links are on my sidebar. I would even suggest you try following me again if you have a Google account, because something is amiss somewhere.

I am not a member of Google plus, and have no intentions of signing up for it, because I don't like how it works. I simply have a regular Google account which anyone can sign up for to enable re-joining my follower's list.

Thanks for your understanding and patience and for those of you who've been faithful followers for such a long time, I thank you for your loyalty! You all make this blogging experience worth every minute!

Carol

I shouldn't panic Carol, it's probably Google doing it's cleaning. I'm sure your followers would always want to visit and see your wonderful creations.

I just noticed this this morning. I only lost 5 but still was wondering what happened. I thought maybe people just didn't want to follow my blog anymore, but now I see it must be a problem with Google.

I'm so sorry you've lost that many followers Carol! I have lost some myself and not sure if it's due to this or not, but I have learned that most anything (gadget/widget) on your sidebar means anything about who is following you on your blog. I join it to let people know (publicly) that I am a fan of their blog, but the way I get updates to see your posts is through Feedly. I know there are other alternatives such as bloglovin', etc. I have learned from past experience thinking I didn't have the followers I did, but then I get an e-mail out of the blue from someone I'm not familiar with who claims they've been following my blog for YEARS!!?? So weird, but you really never know where or how people are following you, so please don't fret over dropped numbers my friend!! HUGS

Hi Carol

I just checked and am following you still! This is such a pickle - and so sad that a lot of the lost followers will probably never be reinstated :(

I've read so much about this recently Carol. So sorry to hear you have lost followers who I'm sure won't be happy about it either. Glad to report I'm still with you. Barbxx

In the past, I have had people tell me they no longer get notifications of my blog posts too....and I haven't changed a thing! I have also noticed a lower amount of comments and visits in general....not sure if it's a reflection of my stamping or just stamping and blogging in general!! I hope you get all your peeps back soon!!

I re-re-re-rejoined. This time it asked me for my Google password so hopefully I will stay put. EXCEPT.... it put up the picture of a cat stamp which is usually associated with my Yahoo account. I just don't get it!

So now I'm at a different computer and again it says I'm not a follower. It's making us CRAZY!

I hope you get your followers back Carol. It is weird the way all this is going down. I checked and I am still following, plus I follow by email, which to me is the way to go! I also have a google account, so I hope I'm safe and don't get removed. lol Hugs, Brenda

I've lost another lot of followers in the past couple of days Carol, they seem to disappear in batches, sometimes weeks apart - hopefully it will soon be over and things will settle down again.

Carol, having the same thing. I tried to join here, said I already follow, BUT I'm finding that I have to sign in to Google, even though I think I'm already signed in. Hopefully this message will do the trick and all your followers show back up. I have no way to tell who follows me via Bloglovin, and I use the Followers names if I do the random generator for blog candy. Good luck! You KNOW we want to see your fab cards! Hope the snow is all melted. TFS & HUgs

I think everyone is having this happen Carol. Not much can be done other than watch the numbers drop. I had even more this morning. It's a little crazy right now.

Yep. makes me sad. I have lost a lot of followers too. I keep telling myself that there are other ways to follow a blog-Feedly(my choice) bloglovin etc...so hopefully they are following me that way too! Darn it!!! I hate this change! LOL

Your blog still shows up on my dashboard reader, so that's good! Don't worry about losing followers - they aren't really leaving - it's just a Google clean-up of inactive accounts. I lost 8 followers myself and it's a let-down to see the numbers drop, isn't it. We're all in the same boat, so don't let it get you down.

I LOVE your daily inspiration Carol! You do such a great job with your cards and inspiring so many!

I lost some followers as well but chalked it up to my lazy blog habit.

Hi Carol, I think this is a problem across the board for many. I literally lost over 100 followers overnight. I know many use email subscription or bloglovin. I hope you are able to gain your followers back, I am sure it is a google issue and not your beautiful creations!! I thought I lost my followers because I have not posted as often but now I am thinking it is a google issue with me as well.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful creations!!
hugs,
Chris
