Happy Birthday America!

I've had a life-long friend who celebrates her birthday on July 4th, and she loves that she was born on such a fun and festive day. What fun it must be to have fireworks and parades on your special day every year! I always make her some sort of red, white and blue card, and this is the one I made for her this year. I made another herringbone background with assorted patriotic strips of dsp. The sentiment was done with a "Morning Meadow" stamp set by SU! The stars were done with a larger Punch-a-bunch, and a smaller SU! punch. The centers were embellished with a red, white, and blue mini star on each, while the sentiment panel was cut with SB scalloped and regular petite ovals. I finished the outside edges of the card with a Lil Inker stitched rectangles die.

Happy Birthday to America and those who celebrate their birthday today!

Make it a safe and happy holiday weekend!

Thanks for stopping by!

Carol

Awesome...did your eyes go bonkers with placing these bright strips in the chevron pattern? It's so effective, and really a patriotic blast. Love the stars and of course, you know I love the stitch mats. I'm sure your friend just loved this beautiful card. I had a friend who's bday was the 3rd, and I always made her a red, white & blue scheme card (nothing so brilliant as this one though). Sadly we lost her last February, age 93. Her family is having a special memorial down at Martha's Vineyard this week. TFS & Hugs. Hope you & Mr. had a pleasant day. Ours was very quiet. (and thank you so very much for the wonderful card...so kind of you to remember).

Love this! You can put colors and patterns together so well to make these herringbone cards. I stared at the greeting for a long time because I just know I knew who made it but was too tired to figure it out. Yep, SU!

I'm sure your friend loved this card. I still like to see this wonderful technique. Must give it a try again...since you are the one who inspired me with this technique!
Sorry I have not been around much lately.
for some reason I just been having a terrible time getting back into trying to make something. I've had dry spots before but this one seems to be the worst. I have one card started...just hope I can find the motivation to finish it and take a pic.
