Layered Embossing

My card today is for the MFP Speedy Fox & Friends challenge #244. This week they're asking us to do "layered embossing." You can find the directions for this technique by clicking the link above or reading below how I created it.

I pulled out my stash of pre-cut punched or die-cut hearts and glued them down to a plain piece of white card stock in random fashion. I even used a couple pink felt hearts that I found in the box of snippets. Once they were glued down, I ran them through a Sizzix hearts embossing folder, rounded the corners, and added a stamped sentiment from MFP in white pigment ink. The stamp was well inked and yet I was very disappointed with results. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good white ink pad that gives a clear stamped image? This was a brand new inkpad I recently purchased, and I think it was money ill-spent because you can barely read it.

I'm also sharing this over at the Snippets Playground #159 with all the snippets used on this card.

Thanks for stopping by and I wish you a wonderful day!

Carol

Adorable card; love all the hearts and heart embossing folder. As for white ink, I've yet to find one that gives a bright image. Thank you for sharing with us at MFP Blog Challenge.

I'd love to hear what people suggest for white ink myself. I figure if you want to stamp in white it has to be heat embossed. I like your very textured heart card. Having the layers embossed rather makes me think of a quilt.

Super-sweet card!! Love the added texture of your little felt hearts, too!!! Great take on the challenge. I haven't even started on Valentines Day cards, yet!!!

I also have had trouble finding a great white ink pad. I know Jennifer McGuire has made recommendations for ones she loves. Her blog has a search function, so you should be able to pull it up. Hope that helps.

Carol, this is really, really pretty - and so different! Love that double embossing and all the hearts are beautiful. As far as white ink......haven't found one yet. I usually just stamp it in Versmark and then use white embossing powder over it. Sometimes it shows up a little better but mine always gets splotchy looking.

If you find a great white ink...please share. Heat embossing seems to help. Fun card!

Great idea to layered embossing! You made a very originl card with these snippets!! Love the two little felt hearts embossed, look great with a stunning 3D effect!
I am not skilled with the stamps, but I believe that white Stazon works well, even if can't hot embossed.

I love this card Carol, it's a great way of using up the precut hearts. The layered embossing technique looks really good and the felt hearts also add even more interest to the the texture.

Carol I like this card a lot and you did a great job. I can see the sentiment just fine, but I do know what you mean. I never try to use white ink anymore because I have not found a good one yet. I just white emboss a Versa Mark stamping. Have a good night. Very cold here again today, but it might actually go up to 33° in a couple of days. YAY!

Very cute card and I love the added felt pieces!.... But I have never heard this technique called "layered embossing". I've always known it as "embedded embossing"... I learn something new every day! :)

Oh this is lovely Carol! Clever technique and super way to use up snippets!

The white ink pad that I use is Stayzon's 'Cotton White', but it works best on glossy card stock. I'm with those who say to use white embossing powder for a really good white.

Love your sweet heart card!
Thanks for joining us this week at MFP Blog challenge

Totally agree with Di . . . the best way to get white sentiments or images is via heat embossing. Tried and thrown out so many white ink pads that I don't bother with them anymore.

LOVE your pretty layered embossing loveheart card Carol. Top marks xxx

Lovely Card! I like hearts very much and if they are embossing they are much loveliest. Have you ever tried with white Unicorn from Hero Arts? Lots of card makers here are satisfield with it.

What a fun and pretty card Carol! I love all the hearts going all over and I love the embossing over them. Jennifer McGuire recommends the Unicorn white Hero Art's white and Staz On White. I have the Unicorn one and it's not bad, not perfect but better than most. If I want a white sentiment I just go with white embossing powder most of the time. Hugs, Brenda

oh this technique looks amazing! I love it. As for white...yep, I tend to rely on embossing too. I find in particular that white on red is the hardest to keep crisp.

Happy New Year Carol! Hope all is going well with you. I just love the layered embossing technique. You've done a beautiful job with it here on this lovely card.

Love the layered embossing on this and it looks even better since you chose hearts and they are cute! Well done. Hugz

I just love all your hearts. This is adorable.

I admit I use heat embossing to get a good white. I only use my white ink for chalk boarding techniques or for adding "snow" to dark papers.
