Christmas in July with

I made time to play along with a bonus challenge from SOS and the Jingle Belles. They've teamed up to make a challenge for a Christmas/Holiday/Winter project using something from your stash that's at least ten years old! That's no problem for me as I tend to hoard things I love :)
The ornaments were punched from a note card pack I bought at Michaels for $1 probably 7 or more years ago - perhaps even longer! I don't use store-bought cards anymore, but I loved the swirled silver & blue design on them, so I figured for $1, I'll use the pretty fronts for something. Well finally, I pulled them out, punched some ornaments and used some long-hoarded Soft Sky cardstock to make this card. Actually I made a set of 5, but they're all the same so I'm just posting one. I used a Memory Box Pine Needle border and Smokey Slate cardstock for the branches and added some very old tiny Stampendous stickers randomly on the branches. (if you click the photo to enlarge, you may be able to see that detail a little better.) The sentiment was done with my Quickutz (anyone remember those early die-cutting dinosaurs? I still have and use mine!) lol I used a retired SU! ornament punch, along with a SU! mosaic punch for the ornaments, suspending them on Stampendous silver stickers. The silver cording tied around the largest ornament is probably ten years older or more. I bought that when I first got into stamping at the turn of the century! (that really sounds old doesn't it?) The silver metallic ribbon was in a prize I won maybe 2 yrs ago.

As much as I love new "schtuff" I still love the older "schtuff" too, and it feels good to let go of the hoarding and actually put it to use!

Thanks for stopping by and I wish you all a wonderful day! I'll be back again soon :)

Very pretty, Carol. Those swirly ornaments are lovely. I need to go looking for some of my older "schtuff". Who knows what I would find? HA Your card just shows how useful it can be and what pretty things can be made with it.

I had a laugh about the hollyhocks card. We're certainly on the same wave thing with them and the same stamp.

Outstanding! Simple but effective use of old cards. To think use to just throw them out. Perfect.
