Two Christmas Cards for Rudolph Day

I love playing along with the Rudolph challenge which comes around on the 25th of the month, and all you have to do is make 2 Christmas cards. This time, I've used a Tim Holtz image that was stamped &  clear-embossed on glossy cardstock, sponged with light green and pink inks, then matted with green and red. The sentiment is from a border piece of dsp, and the ribbon is from SU!. The little die-cut branch I added to Santa's hat was done with a Marianne die, and I added some red gems from Pizzazz Aplenty. The dsp I used on both cards is from Authentique.

Here's the 2nd version, done with different dsp and a red based sentiment. The sponged colors were a bit lighter too - I think my inkpads need some re-inking :)

Thanks for stopping by and I wish you a wonderful Wednesday!

Carol

Carol, that Santa is awesome and you've made two beautiful cards. I don't think I've made one Christmas card yet. I usually get started around August, though.

My Blogger reading list is back...yea! If yours isn't working yet, probably will be very soon.
YEA again! It was hard without it.

Nice to see such pretty Christmas cards on what is promised to be a very hot day for us here in southeastern Ma. I love that image and you brought it right out with the leaves and berries. That wide ribbon is stunning for this card. Blogger started to work for me this morning, but I don't know if it will last. Good luck with yours.

Do you have your Reader list back yet? Mine came back this morning, finally.

Yikes, I've been saving my last month's Rudolph cards (that didn't get posted) and nearly forgot today was THE day! Thx for the reminder!! I remember this TH stamp. It's one of his best and I love the way you've inked and sponged it - so pretty. The touch of green holly on Santy's hat really livens him up. Of course I love the background papers too. The different bkgrnd paper on #2 makes it look much different. TFS & Hugs too.

Loving these, Carol, and planning to bookmark this post!! I really love the plaid bg. It looks like you've taken cozy flannel pj fabric and wrapped it around your classic Santa card!! Hugs, Darnell

What a great card Carol! I love that image - so vintage and artsy - and your card has so many great details! Fun stuff. I have some of that ribbon and I was thinking the other day that I need to figure out a way to use it since I haven't in probably 3-4 years. Thanks for the inspiration! Hugz!

OMG! I totally forgot about Rudolph day this month! I totally forgot it was the end of the month.... which is sill because I made 4th of July cards which would imply the 4th day of the month which is near the beginning of a month and just before the beginning of a month is the end of one! Holy cow! I love your cards! The ornate fancy Santas with the touch of punched holy is awesome!
