for Dad

Here's my entry for this week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge, which is to create a father's day/masculine card. This was really simple to make using scraps of card stock and dsp. The lettering was done with my Quickutz in yellow and cocoa, and I layered them to give a little dimension. The star was done with a Sizzix die in 3 colors and placed over a torn piece of retired SU! dsp that I sponged with antique linen ink. The text paper is also retired dsp from SU! After I made this card and photographed it, I noticed the text and had to chuckle. I knew I wanted text, but never bothered to read the words until the card was finished. Maybe this card will work for a dad who operates an orange orchard in Florida? LOL I like the overall look of the card, it's just unfortunate that the text isn't all too masculine for the most part :)

I'm also entering this into the Snippets Playground #127.

Here's wishing you a great day, and thanks for stopping by!

Carol

Great card for any dad!!! Love the big star and those colors you used. I've never seen that retired print paper from SU but it's really nice.

This came out very nice Carol. Love the brown and yellow. I don't think any Dad will think twice about the text. He will just know that he is a star in someone's eyes and heart. It's a rainy, damp dreary day here. Hope it get better tomorrow.

Great Masculine. I'm with what Donna said in her comment. I don't think too many men will read the text...I think it would work especially well if Dad likes to work in a Garden...smile...

I think it is a great card, never mind what the text says. It's not from some bodice-ripper novel, so it's all good!

This is an awesome card for any dad Carol! I am loving the DS paper you used, so pretty and love the script paper. I don't think anyone will bother reading the text on it though, but still if they would there is a lot of men who work in orange groves. lol I love it and love those stars. Hugs, Brenda

Had a heck of a time trying to leave a comment... darn. This is a handsome masculine card, Carol. Too funny about the text, and I have actually done that before. I have a 10 pound antique dictionary that I tear from, and have gotten it wrong. LOL!
