SOSS #8 - C is for "Crap"

Hello everyone, and welcome to my post as a guest designer for the Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers challenge  SOSS#8. The challenge this week is "C is for Crap." We're challenging you to use something you just had to buy, but have seldom used it since you bought it. I know most of us can relate to that challenge, and I know I'm among those numbers! LOL

For my card, I've used some glossy cardstock I bought perhaps 10 years ago, and it still sits in my stash, practically unused. I was recently inspired by this card, and decided to pull out that glossy cardstock and use it again. The stamp is by Tim Holtz, and I will never part with this stamp as it makes beautiful cards! I stamped the image with Versamark Black ink, and heat embossed it with clear ep. I sponged with tangergine, turquoise, and finally daffodil inks, then stamped some birds, butterflies, and a dragonfly with brilliance platinum planet ink for a hologram look. I'd been to a craft show recently that used this technique and the cards were beautiful!

Here's a close-up so you can see those details.

The sentiment is by Studio Calico and the feather is from Memory Box.

I could make this a nice masculine birthday card with a birthday sentiment inside, or I could make it snarky by splattering some white ink inside with a sentiment like "And so do the birds...." Hah! I think I'll wait until it's time to use it and then decide on the inside sentiment!

Thanks for stopping by, and I wish you all a snarky sisterhood kind of day! Keep smiling :)

Carol

Congrats on your GDT spot. SOSS are lucky to have you. Your card is very nice and as you said can go in a couple of different directions, which is always a good thing. Wishing you a great day.

This is really a pretty card, Carol, and I think your sentiment for inside would be perfect..smile. and Yes, I have some glossy cardstock in my stash that I have never used. I think I saw a technique on Utube or somewhere to try...and now I don't know where it is...It may never get used...

What a funny and fun theme! You really got my attention! However, nothing you used on your card looks like crap - I really like that cardstock - and everything else! Love the technique you used! It's a gorgeous card! And congrats on your well-deserved GDT!

Beautiful card, Carol....love the colors you sponged with. Fun way to do the inside with the the splatter of white paint (full of mischief, aren't you)? HaHA

I really like that feather flying across your card.

I am glad that you explained what the "crap" was, because I couldn't figure it out by looking at your project. I also have some glossy cardstock that I would love to try this technique out on. Thanks for being a super guest designer at SoSS!

Congrats on your GDT spot! I am loving this card Carol, I have some glossy paper that I haven't used too. lol That stamp is amazing and I love all TH's stamps, but I'm never sure how to use them so I don't buy them. lol Now I love how you have used this stamp! The colors you sponged on are awesome and I love that hologram look of the birds and butterflies/dragonflies. So cool looking! I love the sentiment too, but I love the other sentiment as well and had to chuckle. You do some amazing cards Carol! Hugs

I'm so excited by this challenge! I have a lot of crap. I don't think I have any with me so it will have to wait until I get home.

Love your card! I remember when glossy cardstock was all the rage. I'll bet I have a large stash of it still. I like the snarky greeting idea the best, but then again.... you know me.

Oh my! I see a crap right here on my mother's desk that I have at home that falls into the category of "why do I have these?" Do you think she'll share??

Grrr. I thought I left a comment ... congratulations on the GD spot, Carol!! This is the best challenge! The question is which crappy thing
should I use?! But, seriously, your card is awesome and it's a brilliant CASE, so I don't know what there is to be snarky about for this one!! Hugs, Darnell

Way to make crap shine like gold! This is utterly awesome, Carol - I too was waiting to find out how on earth you incorporated crap! The hologram stamping is fantastic, I love the colours, and OMG you have GOT to put the splatters on the inside! I bet you expected me to vote for that one ;)
