Retro Style and Spring

Here's one for the Craft Hoarders Anonymous challenge #3 to use "vintage or retro." I don't even know if this card would be considered either of the 2 styles, but it's what I had to work with from my stash. The image was stamped and water-colored probably 3 years ago, and I'm not even sure if I still have this stamp or not. I colored over it with Copics and Spica glitter pens to brighten it up a bit, and added some papers from Pink Paisley along with SU! smoky slate. The embellishment/sentiment was a hand-made gift from my friend Mary Anne. The stems were white, but they looked too washed out, so I colored them grey to match the images' retro ensemble. The chipboard elements are from the Pink Paisley collection that I've had for at least 2 years now and never had any idea how to use them.

Here's another spring-themed card I made for the Mod Squad Spring Palette challenge. I struggled to create a card with these colors, but I kept trying until I finally came up with something. I used all the colors shown in the model, but i don't know if I'm happy with this or not. The ladybug was cut with a MB die, while the fence was done with a MS punch. The main image is by SU! and was stamped with razzleberry and real red inks, and the small yellow flowers were done with a SU! mini punch. The flourish is by Cheery Lynn, and all the black gems are from Pizzazz Aplenty. The sentiment is from SNSS. The navy and light grey card stock are both from SU!

It looks like spring really is heading our way today as we're expecting a beautiful day! I can't wait for this snow to be melted and see the green lawn once again! Who doesn't like spring!?

Thanks for stopping by today and make it a great weekend!

Carol, that's a cool card with the retro style. And, isn't it nice to use something you've had so long?

I love that gorgeous flower on the second one. It a very pretty sky and wonderful scene.

It will be 70 here today and the sun is bright..so far. Love it!I'm so happy you're getting a lovely day.

I like the first card a lot. The grey outlining of the image made her stand off the page nicely. MaryAnne did a super job with the sentiment. Your second card came out super nice also. You should be happy with it. Great sky work and that along with your flowers, birds, beetle and fence all came together in a way to create a sweet spring like scene. I'm glad you are feeling a bit warmer today, so are we however we are suppose to get more snow on Monday and Wednesday. Jack is the only one around here happy. Enjoy your lovely day.

I really like the 70's vibe going on in that fun pink and grey card! So clever to alter the embellishment to match! Thanks for playing along in Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge #3: Vintage/Retro.

#1 card- Looked pretty retro & vintage to me! Made me think of the old sewing pattern envelopes from the 50's-60's...so that says both themes to me! Loved the colors too. Nice choices for that era too. Love the bright posey on #2. Very cheery and I especially liked the tiny blooms tucked up with the CL flourish. That cheeky l/bug pops out against the gray fence very nicely. Well done! TFS
