Kraft, Butterflies, Flowers & Washi

Simon Says Stamp is having a "let's get krafty" challenge this week and of course, that's to use kraft-colored cardstock. They're also showcasing Memory Box products, so I pulled out my MB prim poppy die along with my kraft cardstock and got busy! I cut the poppies with kraft and a snippet of dsp, adhering the dsp pieces on top of the kraft. I glued them to a black oval and added a white scalloped oval to frame them. I added a few matching butterflies and tiny black gemstones along with a thinking of you sentiment. I'm really happy with the clean look of this card and plan to make several more in different colors.
There's a new challenge that just began this week called "the Butterfly Spot Challenge#1" and their first challenge is to use butterflies and flowers, so I'm also entering my card there.

This card is made entirely from SU! coordinating washi tape! I bought it, and didn't quite know what to do with it until I saw the Deconstructed Sketch #138, and the wheels began turning. After laying the 3 diagonal pieces down, I decided to edge the main panel with the striped washi. I took scraps of white and placed the solid gold washi down, and punched out the tiny banner and larger flower with SU! punches, embossing them with a SU! square lattice ef to hide the seams. The smaller flower was done with a new SU! petite petals punch, and I found a matching brad to hold them together. The sentiment is from SU!

Thanks for checking in and stay tuned - I might have something later today too!

Carol

Both cards are so nicely done...the first one of the pop of red...and the second one looks great with the nice soft colors and the texture of the pretty flower!

Love the tulips and now I am inspired to get that washi tape. Your card using that is gorgeous.

I like both cards Carol. The black makes everything else stand out in the first card. I love the gold in the second card. It gives it the touch of elegance.

Your beautiful red poppy looks so elegant against the stark black oval. Love the butterflies done to match and then how you have carried the black through with the gems. A lovely CAS card. Thank you so much for fluttering by today.
hugs Mrs A. (Butterfly challenge).

The red poppy is gorgeous against the black and white frame. Love your card!
The second card is so pretty with the Washi tape. I love using that stuff because it is such an easy way to make a super card...and you did.

Hope you didn't get more snow overnight and aren't getting it today. Maybe the weather forecast was all wrong. Sure!!!!!!!! :-)

two wonderful cards, Carol. Your first card is so different, CAS and elegant all at the same time. Love those little gems and your butterflies. Your second card is stunning with the gold washi. Love how you thought to back the washi with the paper. Your embossing did the job you intended it to, can't see one seam. Is it snowing yet? We are getting 4-6 or 6-10 depending on who you listen to. Just east of us by about 25 miles should be getting a full blown blizzard. I am married to the only happy man in town. LOL Looking forward to see what you have to offer us later on today or tomorrow.

Wow Carol! Your first card is CAS perfection! Love the red poppy against the black oval! Your second card is a masterpiece of washi tape! Love how you used it for the frame and flower center! Great job!

Kraft frustrates me so I am always impressed with people who use it so well like you do (and then I wonder why I can't). Your CAS butterfly card is so nice. I like the random pearls for accent points, not just on the butterflies. Very nice!

The washi tape card is stunning. I will have to CASE this design but mine won't be near as elegant.

Two Big Yow-sas for each of these beauties. Love that pop of pink on the black for your poppies. Stunning color combo. And the gold card is simply beautiful. Wonderful use of the Washi and I will relook at SU's Washi after seeing how you used this. Loved the textured flower too. TFS
