Challenge Cards

This card was made for a brand new challenge I discovered yesterday called Words 2 Scrap By (W2SB#1). Their first challenge is to use the words from the song "My Favorite Things" for inspiration. I chose the words "cream colored ponies" to make this card. I stamped the Serendipity Mustang image, colored it with Copics, outlined with a gold paint pen before cutting with a SB labels 18 die, and for the final touch, I sponged around the edges with Antique Linen ink while the image was still in the die. I used a top note die for the dark brown panel, and the plaid dsp is from DCWV. For the final touch, I added one of those metal ribbon tabs and tied on some brown and natural colored twines to give this an earthy feel.
Since I used the last one of those old metal ribbon tabs, I'm also entering this into the Shopping our Stash #132 challenge, which is to use "the last of something."

Here's my card for the OWH Stars and Stamps sketch challenge #205. I pulled out my owl punch and made a fun owl with some googlie eyes. The striped paper was a left-over snippet from a previous project, while the embossed panel was done with a brand new Arrows Textured Impressions embossing folder from the new SU! Occasions catalog. The sentiment is from MFP and the owl's vest was embossed with a SU! square lattice ef.

I'll also be taking this one over to the Snippets Playground #105 since I used assorted snippets to put this one together.

That's going to do it for me today! We're bracing for a snowstorm later on today, so I'll be hunkered down in my craft room for a while I'm sure......after the shoveling is done that is :)

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!!

Carol

Carol, I can't believe it. I had that same image on my desk to use, but then I looked outside and decided to change to the snowman. On top of that we both used a Top Note Die. GMTA. Both of these cards are beautiful. The coloring on your horse is just gorgeous and that metal tab and those colors of twine are just perfect. Your second cards is sweet as can be with the darling owl. Wishing you a fun, creative day.

Hi, Carol. What a thrill to see your card linked up for the very challenge -- and what a beautiful card it is! As always, your coloring is amazing. But, you've also created a card with a strong focal point and great dimension and texture. Thanks so much for joining us at W2SB. And, stay safe and warm during this winter storm. (Oh, and your sketch card is pretty darn cute, too. Love the embossing on the little vest.)

I love your cream colored pony- so regal and thanks for the tip on inking while the paper is still in the die- fabulous look! And your owl is so stinkin cute- and his vest- looks like someone hand knitted it! Great weather to stay in and make cards!

Great idea to use lyrics from a song to inspire a crafty challenge (I'll have that in my head all night now!)
Thanks for playing along with us at Shopping Our Stash!

Oh my both are such lovely cards. I love the earth tones of the cream colored pony card. The owl is so cute and whimsical with his googlie eyes. I've been encountering that owl a lot lately. I think this means I need to be inspired by him!

You hit a home run with both of these cards, Miss Carol. That horse is colored magnificently, and I know how difficult it is to get that lovely highlight & shading that you've got going on. He looks so real life. Great use of your top note die too, and your plaid was just perfect for the horse. Very western indeed in the feel of this one.
Now your cute little owl: I'm LOVIN' that perky red vest. Gotta check out the EF, and this little guy just made me grin. TFS & Hugs. Remember, cozy & warm, no falling in the snow or ice!!!!

Every time I visit my favorite blogs, I find more challenges to add to my list of challenges I won't get to. Sigh.

I can't believe you've used the last of those metal thingies on your horse card. Man, I don't think I'll ever run out of them. LOVE how you've used it.

And that owl? ACK - so cute!

Thanks for joining us at Shopping Our Stash!
