Retro Sketch #57

I saw this awesome Retro sketch challenge #57 and immediately the wheels began turning in my mind, so I had to play along.

This was the first card I came up with using all SU! products, including the Round Array stamp set and matching 7/8" scalloped punch. The design in the International Bazaar patterned paper was the same size as the punch, so I put them all together, adding a hand-drawn border around the grouping. The mats are early espresso and I added a vanilla brad to the center of the circle. The sentiment is SU! teeny tiny wishes.
I wasn't thrilled with this card because I realized that it needed a larger sentiment after it was finished. Back to the drawing board....

I liked this one a little more with the monochromatic colors, but it still looked better in my mind than what came together :) I used Sahara Sand dsp, along with the SU! round array stamp set and matching 7/8" scalloped punch, and matted everything with black. I added a button with some black twine, and a Hero Arts sentiment. After all that time to carefully cut and mat these small elements I stamped the sentiment crooked! Awrgh!! I know I will give this sketch another try and hopefully I'll be happy with the results! LOL Do you ever find yourself in a slump like this? You have a great sketch for a starting point along with some wonderful supplies, and you still come up empty? Ah well, better days are coming :)

Have a fabulous Friday and take care!

Carol, I love both of these cards. I love the colors in monochromatic one. No one can tell the sentiment is not straight because you, so ingeniously, added the twine the way you did. See there goes your fabulous mind again. Too bad you can't teach "creative thinking" to those of us who have none. Enjoy your day today.

I'm with Donna about the sentiment...not noticeable. That really is a great sketch and you made some awesome cards with it. I do like the colors you used on that monochromatic card.

Have a good weekend. Hope it is warming up there.

I do love both Carol, great take on the sketch, love your selection of papers, and I wouldn't have noticed the crooked sentiment, you placed the twine in the right spot. TFS.

Hey girlfriend, you are being a wee bit over critical, IMO. Sheesh, give yourself a break.... I would not have even tried that sketch. These are both awesome, and if the sentiment is cooked, tilt your head! Luv ya.

P.S. you know I am messing with you, right?

BOTH are fantastic!! Really like that sketch too and think it'll be one I use in the future!
LOVE the colors on the second one, but they're both so pretty it'd be hard to select a favorite.
Crooked sentiment???? Wouldn't have ever even noticed and love the card!

Great cards! You did a fabulous job with this sketch. I'm not good with doing sketches, but this is one I would like to try. I've been trying to work with "inchies" and this is one that definitely would work well with inches...thanks so much for the inspiration.

Love the colour combo on the first card but the second one is a bobby dazzler. Agree with you that it needed a bigger sentiment. Hugs Mrs a.
