OWH Sketch #161 - Easter Card

Here's my card for this week's OWH Stars & Stripes sketch challenge #161.
I used this adorable Easter Dumpling image by Digital Delights and colored it with Copics. I cut the image using a SB beaded oval die and used Lawn Fawn Petite Papers along with some green galore cardstock. The glittered brads and ribbon were from my stash.

I thought I'd make another Easter card with this sketch, so I used scraps on my craft table for this card, and therefore I'm entering this into Pixie's Crafty Workshop Playground #61.

The image was a colored digi called chickpile and it's by LittleMusings. I thought this sentiment from a SSS stamp set called Shoot for the Stars was perfect for the image. I embossed the bottom panel with a Sizzix ef, stamped the sentiment on a vellum strip, and added a snippet of rust colored ric-rac, along with a couple star gems.

And that will do it for me, as I'm going to park myself in front of the tv this afternoon and watch the NASCAR season opener of the Daytona 500 sprint car race. The Nationwide race at Daytona had a bittersweet ending yesterday, as my favorite driver won the race, but there was a horrible multi-car crash in the last lap where a car broke apart and pieces flew into (and over) the catch fence, injuring many spectators. I think all NASCAR fans are praying that those fans will completely recover - I know I'm one of them. It's so difficult to feel the joy of winning when so many were hurt :(

Take care and enjoy your day! Thanks so much for stopping by.

Carol

Two lovely cards Carol - and they both really made me smile :)

Hard to pick but I think the snippets one is my fave - that image is a hoot!

Crumbs, that sounds like a very nasty accident - hope everyone recovers OK.

Hugs, Di xx

Two great cards but I just love the second one. The image is just adorable and the sentiment you close is perfect with this.

Great use of snippets. The embossing on the bottom looks great too!

Great cards for the sketch, Carol. I heard about the crash last evening, and just sat through lunch, with an elder gent recapping everything to his friend. It sounds like many prayers are needed. Hope today's race goes smoother.

Carol, your cards are so cute. Love the extra touches on both cards - the ribbon threaded through the beaded oval and the embossing and ric rac on your second card. Enjoy the race; hope everyone stays safe today.

The ribbon running through the die cut looks great! Both of those images are super cute and your coloring is wonderful, especially the eyes on the first card. So glad you didn't reach for the googlies. lol!

Great cards. I think your first card is a great segue from St. Patrick's Day to Easter.

I see so many cute digital images that make me want to venture into that area. Your cards are so cute! I'm not a race fan but my prayers are with the injured fans.

I see so many cute digital images that make me think I should venture into that area. Your cards are adorable. I like the way you weaved the ribbon into that oval frame on the first one. I'm not a race fan but my prayers are with the injured.

Carol, two adorably cute cards that make me smile. Great idea to weave ribbon in the first card. Really allows the image to shine. [Thanks for reminding me that I have some of Digital Delights hatching chick digis] :) Cute image on the second card and I love the ric rac and solid embossing along the bottom. Really striking. Oh... the look on the face of the bottom chick is priceless. Thanks for playing!

Hi Carol, both great cards but the chick pile is fabulous! Gear use of snippets & colour.

Hubby was following the Daytona race (a UK NASCAR fan), that crash was terrible!

Both cards are adorable. What a fun chickpile and lil' dumpling images.

Gosh, that was a terrible accident. You were the first person I thought about when I read about it on Yahoo news. Hopefully, everyone will be okay.

Wow!! I could not even manage to get one card done that I LOVED, yet you went right to town!! Way to go!!

On the upside, that was yesterday and today is a new day and I had a much better and more creative day!!

Oh WOW, those Easter cards are very pretty, Carol! Love the colors on the first one!
So sad what happened at Daytona on Saturday. I hope everyone will be ok. So far today I haven't heard any updates. Sunday's race was awesome but I know Smoke didn't do so well. There's always next week!
Martin finished 3rd....I was happy for him! :)
