A Fun Spin on Quilt Cards

The challenge over at the Dynamic Duos #10 is to use the colors of Rich Razzleberry & Old Olive. I haven't done many color challenges for a while because I always seem to struggle with them the most, but a 2-color combination doesn't intimidate me quite so much. I've been playing along with these DD challenges and having fun experimenting with colors again.
I was inspired by a card I saw recently on Pinterest and this is the result. The picture I re-pinned didn't have a link where I can give credit, but you can find it here on one of my Pinterest boards. I thought a paper quilt would be fun to put together, so I made a few "quilt squares" for a focal point. I punched 1-1/4" squares of old olive and embossed them with the square lattice ef. I punched 1-3/4"circles from SU!'s cottage wall dsp and centered each square into the circles, and folded the edges up. I'm not a quilter so I don't know the name for this pattern, but maybe some of you quilters out there can help me out if it looks familiar! I used a SU! sentiment stamped in Rich Razzleberry ink and added a big brad to the center to finish this CAS thank-you card.

I had a few more squares that I assembled for the first card, so I made another another one, adding another color to the mix. For this one, I added some buttons to the centers, and another piece of dsp from the SU! Cottage Wall collection, finishing the edges with a MS doily border punch and a piece of Razzleberry polka dot ribbon. The sentiment is by SNSS and was done in Razzleberry ink.

Thanks for stopping by and I wish you all a wonderful, color-inspired Monday!

Wow, Carol, Maybe you should become a quilter! These two card are just lovely and have a soothing appeal to them. I don't know which I like better so I'm going to say they are equally beautiful. Great job folding here. It looks to have been a very tedious part of this card. I'm not crafting today at all. I'm having a lazy day. It's very cloudy and cool here in Oakland, so I'm going to veg for the day. Not a lot of pep. Enjoy your day.

What a great inspiration for your 2 lovely cards. Can I just crawl inside of your brain for a little while? I see these things, and I just can't seem to execute! You know I am a big fan, and very happy you found another fun challenge site!

Love the Cathedral Window look. I'll definitely be trying this out...I'm sure it's much easier with paper than fabric!
