Patriotic Stars for a Hero

I made this card which will go into my next OWH box, because I sealed up a big box for them that's going out in the mail tomorrow. I did the herringbone technique on this one, using BoBunny Liberty papers along with navy, red, and kraft. The stars were done with the Cricut, a Sizzix die, and a punch, and a gemstone star was added to the center. I embossed the star with a borrowed ef (thanks M.A.) and the background with a CB star ef. The sentiment is from AMuse, done on a SB grommet tag and colored with a red marker. The star brads are from my unloved tin of Vanilla HodgePodge Hardware.

This card meets the Shopping our Stash challenge #57 to use red, white, & blue, or stars & Stripes. I had to dig into my BoBunny dsp Liberty pad, because I just won a new one:) I haven't used the Sizzix star die in ages, and those star brads must have been sitting around for several years, so I definitely shopped my stash for this challenge!

This card also fits the Simon Says Stamp challenge to make something "sporty and/or patriotic." I think all the red, white & blue along with the stars adds just a touch of patriotic charm, wouldn't you say?! :)

Thanks much for stopping by and I wish you a wonderful week ahead!

Carol

Glad to hear you got that box filled. This is so awesome. Yep, the chevron pattern is addicting, and next comes hexagons. As for the embossing folders, please enjoy. As you said, it is such fun to play with each others toys!

This is just fabulous, Carol. I really have to try that herringbone technique soon. Those papers are lovely and I love the way you layered your stars. Those brads were definitely worth finding in your stash. Enjoy your day today.

Patriotic, for sure. I love those large star. I tried to make a card with the herringbone pattern but I didn't like the paper I used so it was a dud and didn't finish it. Yours is super!

The next five days here are going to be in the low 100's. Saturday will be the hottest with 104 degrees. Not good for those Freedom Day celebrations.
