Catching up with Challenges

I have two cards today that meet a few challenges. The challenge over at the MoxieFab world blog here is to make a card using scraps in an innovative way. The challenge over on the OWH Stars and Stamps mid-week throwdown is a color challenge to use green and yellow. I grabbed some yellow and green designer paper scraps and snipped them into random shapes. I ran a piece of card stock through my Zyron, and then placed the scraps randomly on the adhesive side, leaving spaces between each piece on all sides. After all the pieces were adhered, I sprinkled gold embossing powder over everything, and heat embossed it. For the final touch I embossed the whole panel with a Sizzix Damask ef. The border was done with a SNSS border die from a scrap of coordinating dsp, and the yellow gingham ribbon was from my stash. I embossed the SU! sentiment with gold ep and here's another birthday card for my stash. I also got to use up some of those precious smaller pieces of dsp that I just can't seem to throw away!
I combined 3 challenges for this card. The Stamping our Stash #44 challenge is to use buttons and/or bows. I chose to use some long-hoarded buttons which I don't often use on cards. I also played along with the Tuesday Throwdown #90, which is to do some spring cleaning and use something you've been hoarding. I've been hoarding this PTI bitty box basics designer paper for several years now, so I used 4 different colors of it for the flowers and leaves. Lastly, I'd like to enter this card into a new challenge I've wanted to play along with for some time now and simply never made the time. That challenge is Perfect Sentiments PSC24, and their challenge this week is to use a thank-you sentiment along with some distressing. I distressed the lattice punch "trellis" with ranger pumice stone, peeled paint and tattered rose inks, and sponged the brick embossed panel with pumice stone ink. I used a Memory Box Willow branch cut from chocolate chip and punched the flowers using a SU! 3 flower punch. The leaves were done with an EK rock fern punch in 2 shades of green dsp. The sentiment is from SU! and was done with chocolate chip ink.
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope your kick-off to spring has you feeling well and energized :)

Carol, both cards are outstandingly beautiful. I have really got to try the mosaic technique someday soon. It came out gorgeous. Your second card is just delightful. I love the sponging on the brick wall and the trellis. Your button flowers and the two toned leaves give the whole card a soothing look to it. Have a great night.
