A MWT and a PB lift

This card is for the mid-week throwdown over at the Stars & Stamps blog. The challenge this week is to create cards of appreciation for a military spouse. I chose the Sweet'nSassy Serene Silhouettes image and a sentiment from SNSS Poppies and Greetings. I stamped the image with Versafine Onyx Black ink, and immediately poured clear detail EP on top, and followed with heat embossing. Then I sponged some Memento summer sky and SU! not quite navy inks. I made the frame with spellbinders labels four from navy cardstock and layered everything on a top note die cut. The embossed panel was done with the SU! square lattice ef.
This one is for the Penny Black challenge, which is to "lift" one of the DT's card designs......in other words - to CASE it. I found this gorgeous card by Elizabeth Allan and knew I had to make my own version. I used the PB set "To You", coloring with Copics and embossing the finished colored piece with clear detail ep. I added some gingham ribbon and a tiny button to the yellow flower center, tied with some pink embroidery thread. I switched up the colors, and didn't pop up all the flowers like Elizabeth's card, but I did add an embossed background for a little interest. I used some PB mix & match cardstock and I'm pleased with the way this one turned out.
Thanks for spending a few minutes of your day with me here and have a great Wednesday!

Carol

pretty use of ribbon on these. The first card is so soothing it would make a lovely sympathy card too. Those are always hard for me.

Carol, I love both of these cards. The colors in the first card are beautiful and it all looks so good on the lattace work. The ribbons add a nice little touch. Great Job. Your second is equally as beautiful. I love that sentiment also. Again, the ribbons - just the right touch. Have a great day.

Both are just beautiful. I love Memento summer sky and use it often. Your sponging with the blues is just so pretty. Super creation.

The bouquet of flowers on the second is lovely...looks like something a Mother would love to receive. Beautiful work.
