Remembering Miss T

Sadly, I had to make a pet sympathy card today for my best friend's sister. I took this photo of her precious dog on New Year's day, and she clearly wasn't feeling well then. Yesterday her owner had to take her to the vet and later that day, she joined all of our other beloved pets who are now playing on the rainbow bridge. It's just so sad to lose a pet and I understand what she's going through.
For my card I used the Sweet Stop Sketch challenge #91 with an added spin of embossing. If you look closely, you can see I lightly embossed the heart-shaped picture of the dog. I tried to keep the soft look, so I didn't want to add a lot of embossing. It's also for the Speedy the Cat's Friends challenge #38, which is to add hearts to our card. I thought a heart would be the best shape to use for the photo, so I matted it with a scrap of cranberry cardstock, using the Spellbinder's heart dies. The papers are from the Paper Studio called Mirabelle and I stamped everything with True Thyme ink......a gorgeous retired SU! color. The card base is Rustic Cream by PTI and the stamp set I used is also by PTI called pet sympathy. I made 2 bows from 2 different ribbons and added a punched butterfly that was covered with Glossy Accents and some MS pearls. The pearls on the card were colored with a Copic to match. I stamped off a couple paw prints on the top of the main panel and popped everything up on dimensionals.
Having lost 3 dogs of my own in the past few years, I know how comforting it is to receive pet sympathy cards, so hopefully this one will bring Miss T's owner a little bit of that comfort.
Thanks for stopping in and have a great day. Give your pet an extra {hug} today too!

Carol

It is so heart-wrenching when you lose a pet. I've been there and it hurts. Your card is just precious and with that adorable picture, it is sure to comfort Miss T's owner.
The heart frame is just perfect for this beautiful dog.

This card is so soft and loving, Carol. I just adore that sentiment and I will be looking for this set. I really struggled when I had to make one for friend, a few weeks back. Just hugged my Jessie Girl and gave her an extra scratch behind the ear.

You are SUCH a lovely friend!!! I cannot properly express how deeply this post has touched my heart. You were so dear to snap this shot, when you did, and then to incorporate it into such a breath taking memorial piece - It is, seriously, a frame-worthy memorial! Your friend will be positively LIFTED by this exquisite piece of love... Truly.

Not to horn in on the sadness {!}, but ... Our cat... my "unplanned", but no less loved than my own human babies, died unexpectedly and HORRIBLY... one week ago. I've been trying to be brave and post happily in un-wavering celebration of all things paper crafty this week, but it's been hard. My soul is wounded in ways that "non-animal" guardians cannot know... It can be a little embarrassing on one level. Fighting the need to hold up in bed with a box of tissues has not been easy. One has no choice, really, to be strong during a loss like this. But it sure feels rotten, to just blend... with the non-grieving. Just reading your post, knowing the power of kindness and dear friends... has lifted my broken and tattered heart, just a tad. You're such a sweet heart Carol... I'm EVER so delighted I peeked in today!

Bravo, dear gal! You, un-knowingly made TWO friends hearts feel a little less sad! XOXO!

Such a sweet & beautiful card, Carol. Reading all the posts you received made me tear up. Losing a pet is so sad. They really do become part of a family, just like children. Your card was very touching and I loved the little heart picture. I'm sure Miss T's owner will find much comfort in this very special card.

Your card is beautiful! I'm sure your friend will appreciate the thought. I know when my dog passed away, it was upsetting and I appreciated the thoughtfulness of my friends.
